Società Sportiva Calcio Napoli
Chapter 1 - PRE SEASON 2011/12
Aurelio De Laurentis has announced the appointment of Legendary Italian Roberto Robinson as the clubs new Manager. Robinson who was born in the Italian Capital Rome, moved to England when aged 3 and forged himself a Footballing career playing for English Club Middlesbrough, becoming a club legend by the age of 22. Called up to the Italian squad for the 2002 World Cup in Japan & Korea just before his 20th Birthday and scored 3 goals in te tournament. A serious injury cut short his career when he was 25, before he could become one of the World Greats. He then moved into the coaching side of the Game, taking up the role as a Youth Coach, before moving to Tottenham as a First Tam Coach. A move back to his homeland in early 2010 resulted in him landing the Managers position at Modena in Serie B, just missing out on promotion to Seria A by 6 points. Now De Laurentis clearly believes that the 28 year old has what it takes to lead a top flight club. With the arrival of Robinson comes the return of a Legend to Naples, Diego Maradona will return to the club he brought so much glory to in the late 80s. It is believed that Maradona will be used to lure players from all over the world as well as advise Robinson in his first few seasons at Napoli, although both Robinson, and particularly Maradona have caused controversy throughout their respective careers, it wont be long before we see if this gamble will work.
Squad strengthening is very much needed if the Neopolitans are to challenge the big guns like the Milan Clubs and Juventus. Robinson will look to develop young players through the Newly improved Youth Academy, which after next season should be in line with the best clubs in the World. The San Paolo will be modernised in the next few years and there is a possibility of increasing the capacity if Robinson brings a Return to the Glory Years.
