Steam question!!??

Hi this is my first ever post so don't tell me off for doing it wrong.

I know you need the access to the internet to install the game initially, but should you need to have access to the internet to run the game after this.

I tried this earlier and it said "steam is already running" or summet like that. Then when I turned the internet back on again, it let me load it up (eventually).

If so I just think its bad that if my internet goes down I cant play FM, even though ive got the disk in the thing!!

I dont want to be a steam basher but im a bit puzzled.

I think if you go on your steam interface and click the 'Steam' button in the top left hand corner it will bring down a list. If you select 'Go Offline' this should allow you to play the game offline.
