I think it will be close, but if the drog plays its your game. if not we have a chance.

If we go out its been a good cup run. And knocked out 2 good team, plus the TV rights its been a good money spinner for Stoke.

My heart says, a late fuller goal 0-1 Stoke.
My Head says 2-0 to your lot.

Your head was spot on mate.
Would have been a different game if that lumbering idiot Mikel had not been on the goal line for that clearance at 0-0.
As you say, not a bad cup run and I hope you finish as high up as possible.
And stop taking the **** out of our captain lol

September

A busy month in between the2 International breaks.

Champions League

A tough opening fixture away to Benfica was made harder with the loss of playmaker James Rodrigues. Sergio Canales chosen to replace him. Our centre backs Otamendi & Rafael Toloi had a torrid time against Cardozo and Saviola and we were well beaten 2-0 without creating a clear cut opportunity.

Roma came to the Britannia for Matchday 2 and normal service was resumed.Arismendi was tasked with shackling £27m summer signing Pjanic from Lyon and performed well.
Sergio Canales scored a 20 yard placed shot to open the scoring early.
Milevskyi and Muniain scored their usual goals to make the game safe just after half time.
After 2 games we sit 3rd in the table with a double header against Zenit next.

Premiership

Burnley Away

Dreadful game with a bizarre own goal by Bikey looking like giving us an ill deserved victory. Top scorer Muniain chipping in with a tap in 5 minutes from the end.
The victory was marred by a long term injury to James Rodrigues who joins Gourcuff out until Christmas.

Hull Home

Our easy run of league fixtures continued with a comfortable 3-0 victory.
Bernardo, Muniain and Milevskyi all scoring.
Diego Renan had a stormer in his best game since returning from injury.

Man City Away

Our 1st real test in the league and a dire game resulted in a 0-0 draw.
Our already stretched midfield lost Defour to an early injury and Bernardo then saw red for a 2nd yellow with 20 minutes still to play.
Otamendi dropped!!

West Brom Home

Another dire game with Stoke not creating a clear cut chance.Mancienne heading a Canales corner in on the hour.
Our midfield lacked creativity with 3 defensive midfielders playing. Mbia made his 1st start and was replaced for dependable Glenn Whelan at half time.
The only positive was another clean sheet.

Carling Cup

Smashed out of sight by Spurs 4-1. Renan sent off for a vicous foul which earned him a fine.
We were already 3-1 down as our whole defence had a stinker. £32m Otamendi particularly poor and was dropped after to get his head together.

Muniain won young player of the month for September.

Otamendi and Tafer not settled well into life at Stoke.

However, top of the league with only 1 goal conceded after 8 games.
Next 4 fixtures in the League look tough.

Injury Ravaged Autumn

Premier League

4 tricky fixtures to report.

Villa Away

Otamendi returned in defence in a reasonably entertaining game. Delph scored his usual 30 yard screamer against us turning Otamendi far too easily for my liking. Good work from Canales set up Bernardo from close range. A foul on the excellent Sandro resulted in a penalty which Bernardo converted. A good result.

Liverpool Away

Shocking game. We didn't have a shot of any description for 40 minutes. Ansaldi picked up a knock. Nobody picked up a goal.

Arsenal Home

Even game but we only had 1 shot on target and didn't deserve to win. Some Russian scored for them.

Chelsea Home

The last in a tough run of fixtures was also our best.
Diego Renan hit the bar early.
Canales scored a well worked team goal before Renan volleyed in from 25 yards. Hangeland pulled 1 back from a corner. The lanky Norweigan exposing Hart's poor flap at the corner.
Pleasing result against 2nd placed team and leaves us 4 points clear going into another International break.

Champions League

Now top the group on 9 points after 2 wins against Zenit.
The away game produced a 2-1 victory with goals from the improving Canales and Bernardo.
The home game was tighter. Ansaldi giving us an early lead which we held on to.

Muniain young player of the month for 3rd month running.
I was overlooked again for manager of the month.

Gourcuff back in 2 to 3 weeks!
Stadium expansion nearly complete...

November

Premiership

Remain 5 points clear at the top ahead of Spurs in 2nd.

Newcastle Home

Played ok against a defensive Toon Army. Muniain scoring the decisive goal with 15 minutes to go.
Another clean sheet for our miserly defence.

West Ham Away

The Hammers could not cope with Spanish wonderkids Canales and Muniain who destroyed them in the 1st half.
One of our best performances of the season against a team we normally struggle against.

Bolton Home

Another bogey team, another goal fest with our best performance of the season.
Muniain had a poor game so Milevskyi soring 2 goals was most welcome.
Shawcross, Sandro and Bernardo completed the rout in front of a record attendance of 41,000.

Man U away

The goals dried up but another clean sheet in a poor game which neither team looked like winning.
I am happy with the result however.

Champions League

Avenged our defeat in Match Day 1 by thrashing Benfica 3-0 at home.
Lacina Traore getting his 1st of the season.
This was our 1st game since the stadium expansion was completed and generated £1.6m of much needed revenue.

A 2nd string matched Roma at The Olympico to confirm 1st place in the group which is an improvement on last year.
Would have been nice to win after leading 2-0 and Verratti missing his penalty.
One positive was Yannis Tafer having a good game and scoring his 1st goal since his loan move.

Muniain won young player again.
I am finally Manager of the Month which prompted interest from Man City who had just sacked Hughes. I immediately distanced myself from these rumours.

Gourcuff, Rafael Tolio and James Rodrigues finally returned from injury and will be concentrating on regaining match fitness before the Christmas period.

Yeah, J.T did get some stick, you were the better team though.

Doing a great job with the mighty potters, I ve just started a story and a new season with stoke (Check it out) and your credited as my inspiration.

Keep it going mate.

Great stuff winning the league mate. Very impressed. One thing to nask? Is there any chance when you write up about the games you could put the results as the title. Otherwise, great story.

Thanks :D

December

Seasons greetings from The Britannia.

Everton 0 Stoke 4

The festive period began with a 34 minute demolition of Everton at Goodison.
Created chance after chance in a one sided half.
Milevskyi, Renan, Canales and Muniain all scored cracking goals.
French flops Gourcuff and Tafer came on and missed golden opportunities in the style of Niklas Bendtner to seal a more emphatic win.

Stoke 2 Spurs 1

Top 2 clashed on Boxing Day in front of a sell out crowd.
A very even game looked as if it would end 1-0 until sub Glenn Whelan making a rare sub appearance lost Assou-Ekoto from a corner.
No worries as Spanish Wonderkid Muniain scored his 51st league goal for Stoke within 5 minutes to seal the points and open up a 10 point lead over their nearest challengers.

Stoke 3 Birmingham 1

After 2 tough games Hammel rang the changes with a weaker side still packed full of internationals, exciting kids, injury returnees and, erm Lacina Traore who proved to his Manager once again he is an increasingly bit part player at The Britannia.

Birmigham stunned the League leaders by taking an unexpected lead and holding it til half time.
Tea cups, pizza, hairdryers and Traores redundant boots (subbed at half time) were thrown at the under performing team.
The 2nd half saw a marked improvement with James Rodrigues scoring a stunning equaliser to confirm his return from injury.
Alibec broke his goal duck and Rodrigues scored a 3rd to seal the victory.

QPR 2 Stoke 2

Top v Bottom at Loftus Road and a 94th minute equaliser after a shirt tug from Otamendi conceded a penalty.
Stoke created a lot of chances but little clear cut.
Tafer was hacked down and Milevskyi scored the resultant penalty.
A sloppy equaliser before Otamendi scored his 1st for the club from sub Verrati's corner.

Still, 47 points from 20 games and 9 points ahead of Villa put in a strong position going into the New Year.

Champions League Draw

All English and both Scottish?!? teamsi in the draw in Nyon and Stoke got a much kinder draw than last years tie against Real Madrid.

Olympiakos should be beatable over 2 legs.

Muniain kept the Young Player of the Month award for a 5th consecutive month.
Hammel retained Manager of the Month.

I didn't get the all english and both scottish jokes but oh well! Much better layout and great results!

I didn't get the all english and both scottish jokes but oh well! Much better layout and great results!

Yeah thanks for the feedback on the layout.
Looks better with the results especially when winning!!

What was that English and Scottish joke all about?lol

Take a look at my Hammers story if you fancy , not doing too shabby! Link is on sig. :D

Wasn't a joke just amazed to see both Scottish teams in the knock out stages.
Scottish footy has obviously had a revival on my save!!

Got loads of different graphic packs in 09 and just transferred them across.

They are all on here and easy to download & install if I can manage it lol
Most of them listed under most popular files on the right hand side of the screen.
Makes the game better when u can see what a girl Verratti looks like...

January

FA Cup

Sheffield Wednesday 0 Stoke 2

January started with a reasonable tie away to Sheffield Wednesday.
A strong team won 2-0 easily with Yannis Tafer continuing his recent good form with a brace in the 1st half.
This allowed promising youngsters to be blooded 2nd half.
Disappointing to lose Arisemendi to a broken foot for 3 months.

Stoke 1 Blackburn 0

Again, no chances taken with a strong team with some rotation.
Muniain scored just after half time and the game was far more comfortable than the scoreline suggests.

Premier League

Stoke 2 Wolves 0

The Britannia welcomed back Stoke legend Sanli Tuncay who was in good form for local rivals Wolves playing on the right wing.
We dominated the game creating and not scoring chance after chance.
The game looked like it was heading towards 2 dropped points but an an exciting end to the game saw Milevskyi and sub Tafer score very late winners.

Stoke 2 Watford 0

Tafer's good form saw him start over Muniain. The young Spaniard having a break from terrorising Premiership defenders.
Again, total domination from the hosts and Gourcuff finally scored his 1st goal after about 10 offside goals over Christmas.

Middlesbrough 0 Stoke 3

Gourcuff scored again along with usual scorers Milevskyi and Muniain. Even game. We created & scored 3 good chances, they didn't.

Stoke 2 Burnley 0

28 chances created but only 2-0. Thankfully Milevskyi on form as Muniain had a bit of a stinker.

Transfers

Stoke had promising Argentinian Centre back regen join for a modest £800k. Otamendi will mentor him.
Man City had inexplicably not offered a senior contract to England's most promising young left back since Ashley Cole. He will join in the summer for a rumoured £3m.
Young reserves were allowed to leave on loan for much needed 1st team experience.

Review

Not a difficult set of fixtures but 6 wins with no goals conceded leaves us 12 points ahead of Villa who have a game in hand.
Drew Wolves away in the cup which will be tricky.

Muniain finally relinquished his domination of young player of the month.

New signings from summer have finally bedded in and James Rodrigues and Rafael Toloi have regained match fitness for the busy next 3 months.

Quick Update It's Late

Stoke 1 Man City 0

Gritty 1-0 with star man Muniain scoring the winner. The goal was like Nasri's the other night but better I assure you.
Man City under new Manager Martin O'Neill totally out of sorts and looking bereft of confidence, ideas and skill.

Hull 1 Stoke 4

Joe Hart was finally beaten for the 1st time in 8 games late in the game.
The game was over almost immediately as we raced into a 4 goal lead within 21 minutes. Muniain scored 2 goals of the season contenders beating men on the half way line before advancing on goal and coolly slotting home twice. This was reminiscent of Ronaldo in his only season at Barcelona.

West Brom 0 Stoke 2

Muniain excelled again with a fine double.
He will be regaining his young player of the month award.

Review

The chasing pack are now aiming for 2nd place as we moved a massive 17 points clear.
A busy and challenging month looms with updates tomorrow.

February

Champions League

Olympiakos 0 Stoke 5 (FIVE)

Stoke's players and fans enjoyed a freezing cold evening and thrashed Olympiakos.
We raced into an early 2 goal lead through our strikers and added to this consistently throughout the game.
Bring on the quarter finals.

FA Cup

Wolves 0 Stoke 4

Our local rivals couldn't cope with Stoke's attacking quality.
Milevskyi opened the scoring early, Sandro powered in a header from a corner.
The 2nd half goals from Bernardo and Muniain sealed the win and a rivals home clash in the Quarters against Man United.

Premier League

Stoke 1 Liverpool 0

Another clean sheet and another header from Sandro from a corner. Players were rested with the Champions League in mind otherwise the margin of victory could have been greater.

Arsenal 1 Stoke 0

Our 2nd defeat of the season was against Arsenal again.
We played ok but the midweek trip to Greece and a lack of rotation lead to a tired performance. Walcott grabbing the winner in the last 10 minutes.

Review

Hammel Manager of the Month.
Munian young player of the month and 2nd player of the month.
Also got best 2 goals of the month.

Spurs have reduced the gap to 14 points with a game in hand.
Surely we can't be caught.

March

FA Cup 6th Round

Stoke 3 Man United 2

The month began with a home Quarter Final against Man United who we have a good record against.
Whilst we were never behind in the match the visitors made it hard work for the favourites.
Gourcuff scored a 75th minute winner in an even match.
Fletcher sent off in the last minute.

Champions League

Stoke 2 Olympiakos 2

Stoke's reserves raced into a 2-0 lead at half time.
A few changes at half time let Olympiakos back into it with Reserve regen keeper Geninho picking the ball out of his net twice on his European debut.

Premier League

Stoke 0 Villa 0

Dominated chances but never created a clear cut opportunity in a 0-0 bore draw.
Spurs closed to 11 points behind.

Newcastle 2 Stoke 2

A dreadful 81 minutes from Stoke with poor performances from Ansaldi (again) Bernardo, Gourcuff and Muniain contributed to Newcastle's Altidore scoring twice in the 1st half.
A rousing team talk failed to inspire the champions elect.
However, Mileskvyi grabbed what appeared to be a consolation on 81.
Diego Renan who had been switched to left back in place of the awful Ansaldi then cut in on his right foot to smash home a 93rd minute equalizer.

Stoke 4 West Ham 0

Normal service was resumed as Stoke reserves totally smashed a poor West Ham.
Verratti opened the scoring from the spot after a penalty was conceded for handball.
Tafer scored a quickfire double either side of the break.
lacina Traore completed the rout with only his 2nd of the season.

Stoke now 13 points ahead of 2nd placed Arsenal with 6 games left and only 2 wins away from back to back titles.

Review

Mancienne and Muniain doubtful for the trip to the Nou Camp for the Champions League final.
Denis Alibec out for the season with a torn hamstring.
Muniain and Alibec injured on International duty.

A Champions League update next.
