Stoke announces new manager

Big news coming in from Britannia Stadium as manager Tony Pulis have been removed as the manager of Stoke following a fiery fallout between him and player James Beattie and the unnecessary added training which has caused severe fatigue in the squad.

The board then employ an ex-Bruneian defender named Adryan Wong following his retirement after the Brunei Football Association was banned by FA. Within minutes after being unveiled at the airport he flew to Spain in hopes of purchasing Argentine midfielder Fernando Gago from Spanish giants Real Madrid which means the media had no chance to hear the hopes of the new manager.

Returning three days later, Stoke fans had high hopes of expecting Fernando Gago unfortunately they were largely disappointed after only the new manager came out. When ask how he feel at not securing the deal he answered "I'm not really disappointed as I never saw the deal going through."

August Updates.
StokeCity-2.png

Transfers have been alright. I know it's a big risk to sign Djemba-Djemba and i regretted :( Gago rejected to join Man City on loan and Adam Johnson also rejected to join Man City for 2.5M

Stoke begins season with lost!
ArsenalvStoke.png

Tried to cause some upset with Denilson send off but all momentum was lost as Fabregas opened the scoring 5 minutes later. We rarely troubled them in the second half and they capitalize with Bendtner shutting us off in the 51st minute.

Yet another lost for The Potters
ManCityvStoke.png

Could of cause some upset but Sorensen completely under perform. Kolo Toure opened the scoring early taking advantage of a mistake made by Sorensen. Stoke came out fighting in the second half but Robinho added City's lead only 4 minutes after the game restarted, a minute later Dave Kitson got a goal for Stoke and were hoping to add to it when only 2 minutes later Faye scored an own goal from yet another mistake from Sorensen. Stephen Ireland then went on to add City's fourth of the game and James Beattie later added another consolation goal for Stoke on the 77th minute.

Three In A Row for Stoke!
StokevLiverpool.png

As expected a lost again! Liverpool built momentum early on despite being the away team by taking the lead early with captain Gerrard. Spanish striker Fernando Torres went on to add to the lead with a strike 8 minutes later. James Beattie scored his second goal in his second game on the 13th minutes to keep Stoke going but Liverpool ended the first half with Brazilian youngster Lucas scoring a powerful effort from the edge of the area on the 34th minute. Liverpool started the second half strongly but it was Stoke who scored first with Tuncay Sanli scoring on the 67th minutes to make it 2-3 but the fans knew it was the end when Ryan Babel completed the scoring on the 71st minute.

With that lost Stoke now sit 18th in the League losing all three league games scoring 4 while conceding 10 in the process. Next game up against Tranmere away in the League Cup.

Stoke wins first competitive game of season.
TranmerevStoke.png

A much needed win following three straight defeats. Not much to note about this match except Romelu Lukaku scoring his first goal for the club and becoming the youngest goalscorer in the Carling Cup history at the age of 16 years 105 days.

Stoke picks up first league win!
StokevWestHam.png

Stoke battled hard to pick up their first league win of the season, a dominant 2-0 win against West Ham. Stoke kick off the game holding possesion strongly and taking the lead early on the 8th minutes with Abdoulaye Faye scoring a header. James Beattie doubled the lead with a header on the 14th minutes. Nobody was able to score in the second half thus the match ends 2-0 in favor of the home side.

Overall:
A average month considering the opening three games are against top sides. Hopefully we will bring the form we had in our last two games to the next month.

September Update.

Stoke's game in September begins with a trip to Turf Moor, to go against newly promoted Burnley and ends it with a trip to Fratton Park to go against Portsmouth.

Burnley gets draw at home.
BurnleyvStoke.png

Newly-promoted Burnley have earn themselves a draw in their match against Stoke City. Nothing interesting really happen in the first half except James Beattie goal which was ruled offside. The game sparked into life in the second half as the away side came out fighting and taking the lead in the 69th minutes with captain Abdoulaye Faye scoring a close range header, looking to capitalize on it, they were unable to as 3 minutes later ex-Man Utd player Chris Eagles scores a placed shot and held on from there, thus the game ends 1-1 at Turf Moor. Tuncay Sanli was later reported to be injured with a gashed arm but is expected to be available for the next game against Wolves.

Stoke throws away lead to lose in thriller!
StokevWolves.png

In a shocking event Stoke City threw away a 2 goal lead to lose 5-3 at home. Stoke kicks off the first half but Wolves gained the upper hand opening the scoring in the 12th minutes with Stefan Maierhofer. Despite this, Stoke equalized 3 minutes later through Salif Diao who scored an header. James Beattie put the home side ahead with a goal on the 22nd minutes and adding to it later with a penalty on the 40th minutes ending the half 3-1. Stoke came out strongly but slowly faded as Michael Kightly scored on the 52nd minutes and Greg Halford went on to equalised in the 70th minutes. Loanee Michael Mancienne put the away side ahead on the 80th minutes. As Stoke hunt for an equalizer the back was left exposed and a mistake by Sorensen let Christophe Berra to scored on the 93rd minutes to end the game 5-3 in favor of the away side.

Stoke wins only in extra time.
MKDonsvStoke.png

A solid performance again in the League Cup, a little disappointed that it had to went into extra time. Have to bring this form into the league. Next round up against Chelsea.

Stoke wins it by 3!
PortsmouthvStoke.png

Nobody would of expected Stoke to win against Portsmouth but they had proved everyone wrong by doing so, an early injury to Beattie means that Victor Moses had to come into play and it only took him 6 minutes to find the net as he scores his first goal for the club and also his first goal in the Premier League. Jamaican striker Ricardo Fuller extended the lead on the 31st minute ending the first half 0-2. The second half wasn't very interesting as it only provide a red card for Portsmouth's Aaron Mokoena, a goal for Stoke's Fuller and a goal ruled offside for Utaka of Portsmouth. James Beattie has been reported to be out for 3 weeks with a gashed leg following the game.

Abdoulaye%20Faye_633640683113281250.jpg

Abdoulaye Faye 4 apps 2 goals 2 MOM
Diego Arismendi wins Young Player Of The Month Award.

Overall: Starting of the month with a draw was alright but the lost against Wolves could be said as unacceptable, we could also have done better against MK Dons but was happy with the result however. Against Portsmouth it was a great solid win and we need to pick up some form from here if we are to finish mid-table.

taking a break for now..will update again soon! :)

October Update

Stoke could be up against it this month with three big games. Two against Chelsea and one against Man Utd. Small games include Bolton and a trip to St.Andrews.

Stoke scrape narrow victory.
StokevBolton.png

Stoke start off the month with a home game against Bolton a game which Bolton dominated but Stoke was able to steal a win. The game starts off well with Bolton firing all cylinders early on, but failed to convert their chances and Stoke took over from there and on the 33rd minutes Turkish captain Tuncay Sanli scored a goal that hits the upright before going into the net. The second half got Stoke starting to look more dangerous as they fought to hold on to the lead and find chances to add a few more, but ultimately was unable to as Stoke finished the game 1-0.

The Blues gets draw.
BirminghamvStoke.png

Birmingham fought hard today as they earned themselves a draw against Stoke. No goals in the first half but Stoke looked the more dangerous side as half-time approaches. The second half begins with Stoke kicking it off and piling the pressure on Birmingham and opened the scoring on the 78th minutes with German defender Robert Huth scoring a header assisted by a Rory Delap's throw-in. Stoke thought they could of won it there but was proved wrong as Roger Johnson scored a late header to secure a 1-1 draw for the Blues.

Ten man pensioners secures 4-2 victory.
StokevChelsea.png

Both teams go into this match hoping to extend their three match unbeaten run and it was Chelsea who did it securing a 4-2 win against Stoke at The Britannia. Stoke kick things off but Chelsea was able to pile on the pressure early on and Carvalho put the away side ahead with a header on the 14th minutes, Frank Lampard went on to extend the lead on the 31st minutes and added his second only 10 minutes later closing the first half with the score 0-3. Second half begins with Stoke changing both of their underperforming strikers but Chelsea found the net first with Joe Cole. 8 minutes later returning striker Mamady Sidibe scored a header to bring the score to 1-4, Sanli added another consolation goal for Stoke to make it 2-4. The closing moments of the game saw John Obi Mikel from Chelsea send off.
Rory Delap has been reported to be out for 3-4 weeks after suffering a groin strain.

Fuller's hat-trick sends Chelsea out of Carling Cup!
StokevChelsea-2.png

Only three days after a defeat to the same team Stoke have revenged with Jamaican striker Ricardo Fuller scoring a tremendous hat-trick to keep Stoke in the cup and their great cup form. Stoke started the game strongly against a weaken Chelsea who had made some changes thinking they can secure an easy win. Fuller was able to capitalize of a mistake made by Chelsea defender John Terry to open the scoring on the 18th minutes and added another 6 minutes later with a placed shot, Stoke ended the first half with high spirits. Stoke came out fighting again in the second half knowing that Chelsea can bring the game back anything but they rarely troubled the home side and Fuller scoring his hat-trick on the 52nd minutes. Next round up against Championship's side Ipswich also a Manchester Derby next round.

Faulty defence as Red Devils puts 5 past Stoke.
ManUtdvStoke.png

Stoke failed to cause any upsets today despite leading early on the 18th minutes with James Beattie and it only took United 4 minutes to find an equaliser with Serbian defender Vidic finding the net with a header, Nani then put the home side in front with a penalty conceded by Wilkinson and Korean winger Park Ji-Sung extended the lead further, United ended the first half 4-2 with Rooney scoring on the 40th minutes and Fuller added a goal for Stoke a minute later. Ultimately it was Bulgarian captain Dimitar Berbatov who scored the only second half goal to give United the victory by a 3 goal margin.

November - December Updates

Overall summaries for two months:
Three games schedule for November along with a hectic December. First off at Stoke-on-Trent with Stoke hosting Everton. 2-0 was the result with Tuncay Sanli and Ricardo Fuller finding the net. Next was a trip to White Hart Lane which ended in another 2-0 favoring the home side with Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko scoring a brace despite so Tottenham ended the match with nine man as King and Dawson was sent off. Back home Stoke entertains Hull in a match which Stoke dominated and ended 3-0 with Cameroonian midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba opening the scoring and English youngster Victor Moses and Jamaican striker Ricardo Fuller went on to add to the lead.

December a month of hectic begins with a Carling Cup game at home against Ipswich which ended 2-2 and Stoke getting the win through penalties 6-5(NOTE: I actually lost this game but I don't know why it says I won it). 5 days later Stoke hosted Wigan a game which saw Ricardo Fuller cancel out Scott Sinclair's goal to draw the game. Third game in a row at home and the third time it ended in a draw as Belgian youngster Romelu Lukaku scores his first Premier League goal and became the youngest ever player to have done so. A trip to Stadium of Light saw Stoke scrape a narrow 3-2 victory with Tuncay Sanli netting a brace and Ricardo Fuller finding the net. Travelling to Birmingham to face Aston Villa was next and The Villains won with ease in a 2-0 victory. Returning home Stoke bounce back from the lost with a 5-1 victory over Fulham with Mali striker Mamady Sidibe netting a hat-trick and Tuncay Sanli netting a brace. The momentum was killed off as Man City came to win 3-1 against Stoke and 2 days later suffered a 3-0 defeat at Anfield.
