Right. Eastbourne Borough management take 2!
As most of you know, I was struggling with the speed of the game in my previous Eastbourne game, so I have decided to start a new Eastbourne Game (was gonna do Brentford but I can't work with only 3 coaches and that's all they'll give me - their loss. I would've taken them to the EPL and beyond but not now!).
So, my Eastbourne game will now be started with just 2 Leagues playable - England (Obviously!) and Scotland to try and keep the save game size to a minimum. The other change I have decided on is not to load players from Reunion (just to make it that little bit harder!)
Taken from The Herald:
DISBELIEF AND SHOCK AT PRIORY LANE
There was complete shock and utter disbelief at Priory Lane, the home of Eastbourne Borough Football Club, today as previous manager, Garry Wilson, shocked the fans by announcing he was leaving the club.
"After a continuous 20 years in football, I have decided to leave the club and spend time with my family. I want to thank the board and the fans of the club for all their support over the last 9 1/2 years and hope that you will give the same support to whoever takes over from me at the club. This team will always have a special place in my heart and I now look forward to watching the games as a fan from the stands. Thankyou very much"
Dean Johnson, the Fans Spokesperson had this to say:
"We are, obviously, extremely disappointed that Garry has left the club. He brought stability to the club as well as generating a family orientated surrounding. However, we understand his need to spend time with his family and wish him all the best. We now wait in eager anticipation as to who the club sign as a successor"
2 Hours later, the Borough board hastily arranged a press conference. We assumed it was to announce a new manager and that proved to be correct:
Len Smith, the Borough chairman:
"Obviously we are all still shocked by the resignation of Garry but now it is time to look to the future. So I am, therefore, pleased to announce the appointment of David Barrett as the new Eastbourne Borough Manager. I hope you will all give him the support he needs to continue the progress of this club. Now I hand to over to David:
"Oh wow. This is the greatest moment of my life. To be able to be given the opportunity to manage my local club is beyond my wildest dreams. I can only hope that I live up to my predecessor who did a fantastic job with this club. I am extremely ambitious and, although I won't be making any pronouncements on what I want to achieve, lets just say that I feel this club is currently living up to about 1% of its potential. Thankyou for your time and I look forward to our journey together."
Dean Johnson:
"Why the club have decided to appoint an unknown manager at this time I do not know. Frankly, I am angry that the board have done this and will be telling them as much. As to Mr Barrett's proclamation about the club's potential, I agree that there is so much more to come from this club with the right person in charge. I just do not believe Mr Barrett is the right person to achieve this. However, I would be happy if he proved us wrong. I guess we will have to wait and see"
So, in the space of a day we have had an experienced manager resign and an unknown manager take the helm of this club. Many people will question the ambitions of the Board after this. We will have to wait and see whether the Board know something that, it appears, everyone else doesn't. This reporter, for one, will be watching with great interest.

So, the fans aren't happy at my appointment. I guess I will have to win them round with my take on Total Football (win more matches than I lose!
). From my previous game with Eastbourne, I know that the team needs strengthening but, as it is a new game and new thread, I will pretend that I have never managed the team before.
I walked into the dressing room to meet the team and, boy, have I never felt so many people's hostility in all my life. I don't think the players are impressed with my appointment and they certainly aren't shy in showing it. I can already hear whispers in the corners of "Does he even have a clue what he's doing?", "Who the **** is he?", "I bet he doesn't last more than a week". Clearly I needed to impose my authority on the players straight away:
"Look, lads, I appreciate that you may think I don't have a clue about what I'm doing but I have been playing Football Management games for over 12 years now. I know exactly what I am doing!"
Obviously this didn't get the response I was hoping for as they started laughing at me. However, not to be deterred, I ploughed on:
"Okay, fine. If that's the way you want it. Regardless of what you may think of me, I AM THE MANAGER NOW! You all now play for me and you will play for me or you will be leaving very quickly. Now, everyone will have a chance to impress me during pre-season and if any of you don't impress me then, come the first game of the season, you won't be playing. Now, do we have any problems?"
Funnily enough, the sniggers and comments quickly stopped and the players sat up and took notice. Clearly, this was going to be a battle of wills and I would have to use my authority to keep them in check.
First things first, Finances:
Transfer Budget £4k
Wage Budget £5,918 (currently used: £5,180)
So, not a lot to play with then. I need new coaches in all areas, a new Assistant and new players. Won't be easy but I am supremely confident.

Not a very good squad, needs strengthening in all areas.
Board expectations are to avoid relegation this season as we are only newly promoted. I think I can achieve this but only with reinforcements as I don't believe the team is good enough at the moment. Now lets see if we can get these players on full time contracts. Thats it for now, I will update when I have news.
