18 Aug: Liverpool (A)
The Swans began their campaign with a visit to their former manager's Liverpool side. Swans fans never believed they would be facing Brendan Rodgers so soon and what a start for the South Wales team.
Lampard, Hazard and Hernandez were all including in the starting XI while Messi, Torres and Michu took their places on the bench.
It started badly for the Swans as Steven Gerrard picked out new signing Niko Krancjar to put the hosts in front aft 18 minutes. The lead lasted another 18 minutes as Hernandez's cross was headed past Pepe Reina by an onrushing Danny Graham and the teams went in to half-time tied at 1-1.
Liverpool were quickest out of the blocks and nearly retook the lead as Andy Carroll saw his point-blank header somehow kept out by Michel Vorm.
This woke the Swans up and on 67 minutes they were in front as Stephen Dobbie played a lovely through ball to Danny Graham who cooly slotted home.
Again Liverpool looked threatening and Luis Suarez came close to an equaliser when his free-kick was tipped over by Vorm.
Thomas threw on Torres and Michu on for Graham and Dobbie and the latter netted in injury time after a mistake by Daniel Agger.

25 Aug: Tottenham Hotspur (H)
Harry Redkanpp brought his Spurs side to the Liberty after an opening day victory against Norwich. Lionel Messi made his Swansea debut as the only change to the starting line-up. To the frustration of the Swans supporters the team looked to sit back and then hit on the counter and could have been behind as early as the third minute when Jermaine Defoe dragged wide when one on one with Vorm.
With 20 minutes on the clock the home side found themselves in front as Lampard robbed Scott Parker and his lofted through ball dropped for Graham to hit first time that flew past Brad Friedel. It remained 1-0 up to half-time.
Seconds after the restart Lionel Messi showed his class as he picked up the ball and ran past Parker, Huddlestone and Dawson before squaring it to Graham who could not miss from six yards out 2-0.
Tottenham tried to respond and new signing Walter Montillo had a 25 yard screamer bounce back off the crossbar.
Despite constant pressure Swansea kept Spurs at bay to secure back to back wins.

2 Sep: Manchester City (A)
The Swans came back down to earth with a bumo after a footballing lesson at the Etihad Stadium. Fernando Torres made his first start and Dobbie was recalled and Messi left on the bench after only just recovered from a knock picked up against Tottenham.
It was the worst start for Swansea as they were behind after 15 minutes as James Milner's cross was tapped in by Sergio Aguero. By the half-hour mark they were three down and Aguero was involved again as his header was parried by Vorm straight to Edin Dzeko to tap in. The third was a flowing move as Kolarov played a one-two with David Silva on halfway and broker clear before finding Aguero who, with a first time cross, found the head of Dzeko to make it 3-0 at half-time.
Mark Gower gave Swansea a lifeline after half-time curling a lovely free-kick from 30 yards out but ten minutes later and the Champions were out of sight. Marek Hamsik scored his first city goal after pouncing on a poor backpass by Angel Rangel. The agony was completed in stoppage time as Williams brought down substitute Tevez and Aguero scored from the spot.

15 Sep: Southampton (H)
After the international break the Swans returned to action still with memories of the Etihad still quite fresh. Torres retained his starting spot and Messi was brought back in by the manager. Leon Britton made his first appearance of the season taking the place of Frank Lampard.
The Swans started slowly in a first half starved of chances but had a stroke of luck 35 minutes in as Kelvin Davis's attempt to punch away Hazard's corner bounced off Matt Kilgallon and into the net for an unfortunate own goal. 1-0 at half time.
Ten minutes after half time and it was 2-0 as Messi picked out Hernandez arriving at the back post and the Spanish international pounced with a diving header. Michu replaced Torres after 67 minutes and 5 minutes later was on the score sheet after controlling Hazard's cross and rounding Davis to score.

First team coach Colin Pascoe signed a new three year contract to keep him in the Swans backroom staff until 2015.
Davies loaned to Norwich
Left back Ben Davies was sent out on a season long loan to Norwich City. Days before the deal the young welsh talent signed a 2 year extension to his current deal meaning he would stay with the club until 2016.
Dyer in Hammer's Switch
Nathan Dyer agreed to join West Ham on a season long loan with a view to making the move permanent.
