Anyone tried this? I was thinking since my goalie is very quick and good at rushing out and my two CD's are kinda slow that this would be a good idea. So instructions are: Push higher up, use offside trap and keeper set as sweeper keeper.

Played two pre-season matches and won both 5-3. Not happy with the amount of goals conceded but was wondering if any1 had any success using this tactic and how you set it up.

Cheers

Positioning, Teamwork, Concentration and Anticipation and absolutely vital when playing the offside trap.
When it comes to the Goalkeeper, make sure he has great positioning, decision making & communication.

that will help you secure up at the back

My goalie is only 21 but got very good rushing out and communication, decent postitioning, anticipation and positioning but poor concentration and utter **** composure. My center backs got good mentals allround and are good in the air but both are slow.
This is why I thought this tactic would fit my defence perfectly so we can deal with pacy strikers just trapping them.

I am playing in the swedish premier league so its not exacly Napoli but the players arent horrible. Maybe high league 1 level.

I would suggest using tight marking for your CD's, maybe even for your FB's...so that they stay close to oposition striker and make a step forward in correct time resulting in the trap...

The concept still works though. So why not just give a go? :)

I dont have the team for ur formation but I will try this with my 4-5-1. :)

I didn't mean for you to use my tactic :) I meant that the sweeperkeeper coming out for 2 slow CB's with those instruction works so you should just go ahead and use that. You asked if someone else was using it, so I answered yes to that :)

I will keep working on this tactic during the pre-season and come back with the result. Thanks for all the quick answers :)

The offside trap/sweeper keeper setup is working very nice for my defence. We are hardly conceding goals and the opposition have like 2-4 shots and 0-1 shots on goal every game. My problem now is my offence, we are having like 18-26 shots and 7-12 shots on goal every game but we are only knicking 1-0 victories and even lost one game 0-1 when the opposition only had 1 shot all game and scored of a horrible defensive error from one of my centre backs.

Any ideas that make my players score again? I have 65% possesion every game and working ball into box eploiting flanks etc. Maybe increase width or change to 4-4-2? My lone striker is playing well in that role though with over 7 rating even when he doesnt score and we win 1-0.
