The Seattle Sounders have announced today that Swiss striker Blaise N'Kufo has retired from professional football.
N'Kufo, 35, scored 5 goals in 11 games for the MLS outfit and represented Switzerland in South Africa last year. He scored 7 goals in 27 games. N'Kufo was a big hit at FC Twente and scored 117 goals in his 7 years there, a club record. He also helped Twente to the Eredivisie title in 2009-10, before leaving for America.

What does the future hold for him?
"My plan is to stay in North America," said Nkufo, "and I look forward to opportunities where I can work with young players and help them realize their dreams to play at a high level."

No idea who he is, but 117 goals in 7 years is not a bad record at all.

Best of luck to him.

Oh, the big guy? Was a decent player in his time, very good foil for Frei in the Swiss team too.
