Just a note, I know things are early doors but the same has occurred with this tactic I've made on my last save so I know it doesn't really improve

It's not that bad in general. A few areas to look at:

- The AP/A might not do much defensively, tracking back anyway.

- Your fullbacks aren't doing much offensively. A suggestion would be to have the DR overlap, seeing as you have a support duty winger on that side.

- Your TIs might be the biggest problem. You're not doing anything specifically, looking at your formation, roles and duties that warrants "exploiting the flanks". Especially considering you have a playmaker in the middle. Why is that selected?

General questions. Why have you selected higher tempo, close down more and push higher up? Were the defaults not good enough? What's the thinking behind selecting Direct passing?

What's the issue with the tactic? Conceding too much? Not sure what "midfield isn't great" means.

Ah right thanks, the idea was to have a fast flowing attacking tactic but we haven't scored a great deal and we've conceded some sloppy goals. I expected Balanta to be doing a lot better too.

Well, Control is already quite aggressive so the Higher tempo etc might not even be needed.

The other thing is that you're not going to pull defences apart with that tactic, having a poacher there who won't contribute much, other than lurking. It could work as a direct tactic, but only if the defences aren't already set. So if you're up against cautious teams, it may not work, as they may be waiting for it.

Also pay attention to the fact that it's possible you're asking a bit much from the players. Control has a high tempo. You're pushing it up more, while asking them to be very direct and pass into space. It might be very difficult to do at high tempo, so make sure they have passing options and that the opposition isn't just sitting back, outnumbering the attackers and waiting for mistakes.

Ah right, guess i'll just scrap it then, was hoping to have Martial as a goal machine. As you can see I'm not great at the game haha

I'm just listing possibilities in theory, but you'll need to see if it's an issue. It might be as simple as just reducing your TIs.

Regardless, try to have an idea of how you want to play, who'll be the main goal scorers and providers. Don't over-do it on TIs (start with a few basics only), unless you notice in the initial friendly games that you need to tweak.
