Hi all,
Enjoying reading some of the threads here and the intense problem solving going on!
I bought a few good players (I think!) and seem to have a decent set up butI am struggling with the following issues:
1. I cannot score goals - and if I do, it's because they are lucky goals ("fluke" shots or opposition mistakes).
2. I struggle to hold onto a lead late in the game, or I score goals but so do the opposition.
3. I have a defensive tactic that works (I either draw or lose by 1 goal against teams in divisions above me) so I consider this a success BUT my attacking tactic doesn't work against teams in my league or lower league teams. I lose to them!
So, I wanted to start this thread to get all your opinions and to see if we can solve this baby together! I find it much more rewarding making tactics from scratch rather than just finding them online and making them fit, so I ask the following:
1. Do not post other tactics in here - unless you are comparing them and highlighting interesting differences apart from the scoreline (that's not helpful).
2. Please read "updates" at the start of the thread (below, I will try to keep this updated) so you know you're not recommending something someone else has tried. The updates will have links to specific updates of the tactic along with results so that you don't have to
3. This is intended to be strategic and insightful for everyone rather than slapdash and gung-ho so don't be weary of back and forth discussions!
Here's how I'm going to try this:
1. I have saved my game 5 games into the season (12 including friendlies). I think this is a good amount of time to show the current state of my tactics!
2. I have uploaded the state of my team and tactics currently including screenshots of my starting 11 so you can see their attributes.
3. I will monitor this thread and get everyone's feedback and changes until I have enough to implement them (not all at once obviously so it's not too drastic).
4. I will take screenshots of the changes, then upload them along with the results. I will try and show things that worked and things that didn't.
5. Hopefully, eventually - we will get to a point where the tactics start to work as they should! I will then upload the final tactic file so you can all play around with it further.
I'm hoping this thread will be clean enough and interesting enough for anyone else struggling with tactical issues to try and learn from my mistakes and our collective help.
I feel that starting at the bottom (lower leagues) is the best way to learn how to make effective tactics and learn what they do/how they work - and how to work with what you have rather than what you can afford.
I AM NOT AN EXPERT. I have been playing since Champtionship Manager 90's days, but I've been casual, playing at the top. It's only the last year or two I've started trying to challenge myself more.
I'm hoping therefore, anyone can learn from this and get their head around creating tactics going forward.
You're welcome to do any of the following in this thread:
1. Watch from the sidelines and learn/laugh.
2. Jump in and discuss - tell me/us what you think of this whole thing.
3. Suggest tactical changes specifically
4. Teach us a thing or two. Know how countering works? Know what individual instructions might work? Go ahead and tell us.
5. Feel free to point anyone else struggling to this thread so we can all cry together.
09/11/14 - First post! Nothing tried out yet.
10/11/14 - Made changes to tactic - GOOD RESULTS!
"Why do you only have two tactics? You should have three!"
I am aware of this, however, with a short pre-season and bad training facilities and staff, I opted to learn two tactics confidently rather than three not so well. I am hoping once I crack these two I can make a third - one very defensive one perhaps, to retain leads?
"Have you considered it to be a team talk/morale issue? Lower league players can have poor determination attributes!"
I am ruling this one out for now because I think I'm pretty decent at team talks now. I can show a screenshot if you like, but I hardly ever get a negative response (red or "uninterested").
"Are you aware this is still a BETA and there may be issues?"
Yes - I had problems with the high scorelines, but I have started this after the latest update, so I am hoping it's closer to how it will be!
"Why are you starting in the lower leagues? That's the problem!"
I know it's going to be harder, but for me, it's no fun just trying to solve the problem with top players and money in the Premiership. I think you really find out how good you are in the lower leagues.
"Have you been cheating?"
No - the aim is to do this organically and to actually learn how to be a better manager! Besides, the editor isn't available yet either.
"Why are you playing so narrow?!"
Not my choice really, but my strongest players are both CM/AMC and the wingers are rubbish. I don't have the budget to buy good wingers, so I've tried to go for a narrow approach. But I'm open to suggestions!

So what's this about?
This is for discussions in FM15 tactics. Well, I'm managing a lower league team: Arka, Polish First Division (2nd, Division, Ekstraklasa is the premier). I like a challenge, you see.

What's the plan?
