Hey everyone, first post, long time lurking the boards.

How do people play against this formation, for the love of god. No matter what I seem to be trying, one of the attacking mids will slip through my defence and get a chance or a cross in.

I've tried both deep sitting (to cover those running through) and higher up defences (to try and choke the AM's) with no success bar a win at Norwich through luck and a fantastic keeper performance. Trying to exploit the 2v1 out wide also rarely seems to be doing anything, despite that being the obvious weakness. Fullbacks and wingers all 3.5 star + players.

Liverpool, Norwich and a couple of others play it and I concede on average 20-25 shots a game. My team is solid against better teams, it's just this formation (against much weaker teams also) and it seems very unnatural as there's a clear weakness out wide as i'm sure others have mentioned.

All help appreciated :)

Just to add a bit more, my usual formations are a 4-4-1-1 or a 4-2-3-1 wide.

GK: GK D

LB: LFB D

RCM: CM S
LCM: BBM S
LM/LW: WPM S/IF S

AM: SS A

ST: T/AF A

Try and show their full backs onto weaker foot so they come inside and therefore in principal congest their midfield
