Hello I have a problem with my tactic. The problem is that I concede too much goals. My defense must be better and I don't want to depend on my striker (Winter) to score all the goals.

View attachment 441251

As you can see I score a lot but I lose 2 stupid matches that I could have won (against Fernwald en Vellmar).

I'm now 4th in the league but I want to win the league to gain promotion to the Regionalliga.

Now I don't know why I concede so much and my defenders have bad or inconsistent ratings. So that's why I need your help. I have some team instructions but no player instructions. Also I don't know why my right winger plays so well but my left winger plays badly.

I'll appreciate all your help but please respond!

Sorry for my bad english, I'm from Belgium.
If you need any translations from the screen please ask me.

Hey bud, the majority here is english speaking so it might be best to translate the player roles and team instructions. Plus if you have individual instructions on players you might want to add these, this will give the full picture and people will be more able to assist you

I have no player instructions (it's in the text).

Translation: -------------Keeper-------------------------------
Limited full back---Limited defender (x2)---Limited full back
-----------CM (D)-----------------------CM (S)----------------
------IF (A)----------------Trequartista (A)--------IF (S)------
------------------------False 9 (S)-------------------------------

Here Callamity, I hope you can help me.

sorry i missed that part about player instructions xD.
What are the team instructions? and how do you wish to play?

I'm now in the Oberliga (5th tier of Germany) and my wish is to get them to the Bundesliga and be a concurrent of Bayer Munich. I want to play a direct style of football till the 2nd Bundesliga (2th tier).

My team instructions are:
- More direct passing
- Pass into space
- Play narrower
- Drop deeper
- Use tighter marking

My match training is set to defence positions.

ok, it might be wiser to drop the play narrower instruction, this will limit space you have to play into.
Tighter marking isnt really a great idea either as it can lead to your team being pulled out of positions.

I think it might be an Idea to add, be more disciplined, to make your team more tactically aware, and more solid defensively.
Also add the much higher tempo shout, as this will get the ball forward to your strikers faster.
you might even want to add play out of defense so the ball doesnt just get punted ***** nilly, having more purpose to the direct passes will create more chances.

mentality and fluidity should probably be attacking and rigid aswell this will allow players to shine in their roles, and attacking gets the ball forward quicker.

A false9 leading the line in a direct style is not really the best idea, reason being he will drop deeper, whereas you want your striker to be on the shoulder of defenders, running onto through balls, pace here is more important than anything else.

you might also want to rethink your roles, your defense is very limited and will be punting the ball at every opportunity, without purpose. regular fullbacks will work fine, support/attack duty to give more threat going forward. also your cb's would probably be best, maybe one set to cover to protect against through balls.

it might also be a good idea to drop your cm's to the dm position to provide a bit of protection for your defense.

Good luc mate

Thanks a lot callamity! I wil try your adds but I don't know what role my striker must have. He scored 16 goals!!!! in 14 matches.

His best roles are targetman, shadow striker and deep forward (I don't know what it is in english, only duty it can have is attacking)

Do you have any advice what role and duty?

I'm going to give you his screen and translate the best attributes:

View attachment 441226 He has very good physical stats as you can see.
Dribbling and heading: 10 (technical)
Technique: 11 (technical)
Aggression and work rate: 10 (mental)
Acceleration, pace, natural fitness and stamina: 10 (physical)
Jumping reach: 12 (physical)
Strength and balance: 13 (physical)

Id try complete forward attack, you have the tq in behind him, and the inside forwards aswell so he will run the front lines, scoring and creating chances there.

Thank you very much. I'm going to try it now for a couple of matches and show you the stats, results and tactical changes.

WOW, I just played my first match with the changes. I won 7-3!!!!

It was 4-0 at half time so everything went well, but the concentration in the second half was poor...
They lack concentration, but the defence in the first half was incredible! They had 4 CCC's in the first half, but my keeper and centre backs were fenomenal! It is a concern that over all they had 7 CCC's... (I am happy with my 4 CCC's)

I hope that will decrease, but what an extraordinary first game!

Thank you callamity, again :p

I wouldnt worry about the CCC's mate, the lower leagues are all about out scoring your opponents, using fast strikers and good through balls.

I have now played 5 games: 4 wins and 1 draw
The draw was against the first in the league SV Wiesbaden and maybe it is may fault that we didn't won, because drop deeper was on... Alough we were lucky because we scored in 90'+4' and the adding time was only 3 minutes...

Here the results:
View attachment 441210 The first match with the new tactic was the weird game against Stadtallendorf.

The last game and the second half of the last but one game I changed the 'complete forward' in 'advanced forward' (or attacking forward, I don't know that role in english) and the result is 5 goals, 3 or 4 from my striker!

The tactic and team instruction (+translation):

Fluidity: Rigid

And now the table, I was 4rd (1 point and 1 game behind the 3rd).

So thank you very much! I will update at the end of the season!

Do you think this is a good story to open a story thread?
And do you have advice to begin a story?

Sorry I'm a newbie :p

Merry Christmas callamity!

I've good and bad news.

The good news: I won the Oberliga with 1 point difference, but the last game I played with a B team because I was already sure that I would win the league and I lost that match. I won the promotie playoff against Oberneuland with penalties and now I'm in the Regionalliga!

The bad news: All my best players asked too much money so I couldn't renew their contracts. Only 4 players have a new contract so I was forced to make a lot of new transfers.
I've now a new team, but I am losing all my friendlies... I don't know what to change before the season begins... The aim is to not get relegated.

Merry Christmas mate,
This is very unlucky and one of the key things you should do in lower leagues is tie down your best players on longer contracts before you get promoted. The new team will take time to gel, team cohesion training can help with this. Apart from that there is not much more advice I can give, transitioning teams always go through a spell of poor results and inconsistency.
Hopefully it wont take too long for you turning this round

My best players had a contract that was much too high and they didn't want to renew them. I restarted the friendlies, to have a good morale at the start of the season.

Now I played 4 games: 3 draws and 1 loss
The first game Bochum II scored in the 90+2 minute with a corner...
The other games I've conceded also some goals of corners. Do you know a good defensive corner setup?
That would be great...

But there is one very very very good thing!
Over 1 year my team lost a lot of money, we were in the red...
BUT because I play in the Regionalliga I can play in the cup.
I had to play a home game against............FRANKFURT!
They were 4th last year and now in the Champions League!
My stadium was sold out so I received 110K for that.
But that's not the only thing...
The match was on tv!!!! So I received another 600K tv-money!
Now the club is relatively rich so the youth level has upgraded and the youth complex!

The tactic changes that I made were: mentality counter instead of attacking (maybe if the tactic is fluid and I play against weaker teams I will play attacking)

And your advice to train team cohesion works very well! But I don't know why but every games I have 2-5 CCC's and I only score 1...

Maybe if the tactic is fluid it will be better so fingers crossed.

I think that I will make some new transfers in January, I hope I won't be in the relegation zone then...

Good luck, mate. Try renewing a player's contract 2 years before it expires. That's the ideal time. If you offer a new contract just one year before expiry, they' ll ask for more 'cos they know they have you by the balls(especially the top players). Either pay up or lose me for free at the end of the season. Counter attack is better if you have just gained promotion 'cos usually you are the underdog and counter is a pretty solid option against bigger teams.

tactical advice

Tactic:
-------------Goalkeeper--------------
FB (S)---CD (D)---CD (D)---FB (S)--
----------------------------------------
----------BWM (S)--BWM (D)-----------
IF (S)----AP/Enganche (A)-----IF(A)--
---------------AF (A)-------------------

Team instructions:
- Direct passing
- higher tempo
- work ball into box
- hassle opponents
- stay on feet
- More disciplined

Mentality: Attacking
Fluidity: Fluid

This is what i think you should try. This way you do not make lots of fouls, and do not throw away possesion as much.

I try not to play with a trequartista in the Advanced midfield role because he will not work as hard and will create a lot of space between attack and midfield, so i prefer an Advanced playmaker. But you could use an Enganche as well.

If you want to be more effective from corners you could aim the corners to near post or the penalty box. Ask your best header of the ball to attack near post and one of your tall players to stand on the far post.

For defending corners send all your players back with one player (a short and fast player) on the edge of the area. This allows you to defend well and counter attack effectively.

this is my advice.

Ok thank you, I wil try it.
I have one player forward for defending corners so I will send him back.
I will report you later this day!
