Tactical styles, team instructions

Hi, I'm wondering if there's a guide or something like that which explains how to combine different team instructions in order to replicate a style, or how to use team instructions right, to balance them so they won't contradict..Because I feel that when my team doesn't play well, it's not the players' roles that are wrong, but the team instructions..
