Has the FM 12 game engine improved enough that just plugging in the latest "unbeatable" tactic will not give you success? I have found even when using the exploit tactics in FM 12 this seems to be the case. My experience is that you need the players to be able to make the tactics work, something which may seem obvious, but that wasn't always the case with previous versions of FM. It felt like I was cheating when using the wonder tactics in past FM. Am I correct in this conclusion?

75% of the tactics uploaded on here and most forums are exploitation. Narrow formations, slow tempo, short passing, play through the middle.. yawn.

If a tactic is made absolutely through the TC and should it be a realistic ask of your players (i.e playing rigid with poorer players, fluid with quality players etc) then IMO it is down to the players.

But slow tempo, short passing etc are all part of actual tactics e.g., Spain! So in a way I don't see that as exploiting because you still need certain types of player to be able to play through the middle and make short accurate passes. I see exploits more as the corner exploit...becasue in real football no team puts just one player on the near post. I actually used the Exploit tactic with Roma and it was hit and miss especially against equal or better sides...I think it had to do with the players I was using.

Most of those 'wonder' tactics have brought me no success at all. Even the corner exploit, I've had more success with my own set pieces than that. Although I haven't really looked into it much, since it's supposedly already in one of the tactics I have downloaded. I am playing Paris FC though..

Why exploit the game engine? Just make your own tactics and experiment... I would have thought the game becomes boring as **** if you use exploitation...

My advice is pick a formation to suit the players you have and work on your own style/philosophy...
