I have tested several tactics for FM 2012 patch 12.0.4, and more will be added soon.

Testing done with teams:
Media prediction:
Man City 3rd
Udinese 10th
R. Sociedad 16th

Method:
1. Looking for the best plug & play tactic, so I left on holiday the whole season
2. So no shouts
3. Match preparation set to team work, average, for the whole season
4. Some tactics include away tactics, I have only tested the main tactic
5. I have tried to only test the newest version

Disclaimer:
Many of the tactics include shouts, away tactics, fool tactics etc. This test is not the final answer to whats the best tactic, neither does it claim to be so. This is a very simple test, so you have to decide for yourself how much you want to put into the results.

Looking for more tactics:
If you know about or use a tactic you want tested, please post it in the comments. If you think an older version or the away tactic for one of the tactics I've tested would do better, leave a comment. Also, no tactics that exploit corner or freekick bugs will be accepted. If any of the tactics I've already tested is known to exploit bugs, then let me know.

The results:

Its is a good effort, this has to be said.

Now, the flaw here lies in that you holiday, something that simply does not give you any clues at all and this is why.

- The assistant manager will make shouts and change strategy during the game.
This means that when using tactics made in the Tactic Creator, he will make these ingame tweaks. Also note that he will still make them even though some of them should be enabled due to some of the sliders/settings has been tweaked, making the shouts completely unbalanced like if the closing down is tweaked down and not the d-line, making you play stand off in the press and play a high d-line when the assman hassles the opponnent

- The assistant might play completetly different playertypes than that is needed for the tactic, like a deepcoming strong FC instead of a pacey poacher playing on the shoulder off the last defender, something that WILL happen if the player settings are tweked away form the role ( in all classic tactics and in some TC ones)

- The result is calculated differently, i.e, the tactic means less and the stature of the club more.

I think you should check a certain testing project called My Huge Tactics Testing Project (FM 2012) !!! ;)
Just kidding..
just want to add on what the better half said, in my case, for example, man city scored way more goals and points with these tactics.. especially with Zero Sea's tactics..
but, I do know how hard it is to run a testing project that will satisfy everybody..
I got some criticism myself..
anyway, I'll be one of those who will follow your post..
at least I'll get ideas which tactics to test next!
I'm sure your test is much more productive than my slow-process-methods..
good luck my friend! and dont stop..

I know of all the problems with this method, and I think most other people do aswell. This was originally just something I planed to do for myself, but then I decided to share it. I've found even simpler tests than this (only one team) very helpful in the past when looking for a good tactic. People just have to take it for what it is really. Even if you ran the same test twice the number of goals a team would get with the same tactic could differ quite a lot. The reason I didn't want to make it more complicated was because that would really limit the number of tactics I could test. The four tactics I've tested so far was all tested yesterday, but it still takes hours to run each test. They are all tactics that I've used myself, and if I had to place them from 1 to 4 as a plug and play tactic, I would put them in the same order as they ended up in the test.

If a_ilfandy test some of the tactics that end up with a good result closer, that would be great. I will be following your thread aswell.

A few tactics I would like to see tested

I appreciate your effort on this and although every testing mode have fails, I believe this is a good way to evaluate the quality of a tactic (considered to be a "plug and play"). If possible,I would like to see the following tactics tested:"MiNiMaL_FuSS Coterminosity V0.4": MiNiMaL_FuSS Coterminosity V0.4 (Norwich, Mar 2015).tac "442 Vodu Caos 12.0": 442 Vodu Caos 12.0.tac | Game Front "il devasto" is cooking v.5": 4-2-2-2 _il devasto_ is cooooking v.5 (R. Madrid, Nov 2011).tac Cheers,

keep it going.. even though some are not satisfy on the way we do it, but they do appreciate our effort..
they will learn a thing or two from our testing.. valid or not, its all up to them..
as said, I'll refer to your results in scouting the next tactic to test..
as your way more productive..
so ring me when you find an-interesting-not-so-popular tactic..
I always believe there's some great tactics out there that yet to be recognized..

MiNiMaL_FuSS Coterminosity V0.4 tested. I'm just gonna test them in the order they are requested. Btw, if you could link me to the thread for the tactic aswell, that would be great, so I can link people directly to it.

This. I used my attacking 4-4-2 with MU, went on a month holiday, come back, and he (my assistant) was using a wierd formation, and I later learned he changed my formation in some negative ways.

Did you tick the use current tactic button? Cause when I go back to games it looks like the team plays the same tactic every game.

Either he missed it or its à rare bug ( the box getting unticked). The assman ALWAYS plays the same formation as ordered to.

Even if you tick the "Use Current Tactic" button, the assman changes formation in game. He will start with your tactic but then change to something else in game depending on the situation. I know this because you can let your assistant manage a few games and then check the "Tactic Analysis" tab, you will find more than one formation used there :)

Correct. I was referring to what he starts with.
