Can someone explain what is wrong with saying: "Great performance out there lads, let's make sure you can do it when it really matters"?

I said it at full time after my team comprehensively beat a lower team in pre-season - and the whole team (bar the goalkeeper - who got more focus) - got angry!

I wanted to chop and change my team chats little - and I get that...
What's wrong with that??

im guessing its because it sounds like you dont have faith in them to perform against big teams and knocking their win

That's happened to me before aswell. I imagine its because it sounds like you don't really appreciate how well they have played. Whenever your team plays well just praise them, it never fails :)
