So glad that all you guys experience the same issue with Carroll and Suarez.
I finished 3rd in my first season on the 11.3 patch with the reds playing a standard 4-4-2 , albeit modified, and a standard 4-5-1, again modifed. The big problem is that I want to play a short passing game, but in doing so Carroll did not score 1 header in the entire season. I even set up a load of players to play direct and cross to target man but because I played a short passing game they just never did. I had Carroll as Target and Suarez as poacher. Suarez scored 16 goals in the season, not too shabby but sooo often he would get terrible ratings for games, often going as low as the 5.2 area, especially playing up top on his own. Cant remember how many Carroll got but was probably about 12-13 ish. To get Carroll to play well you would need to set up tactics like non league teams-not gonna do it. The big problem I find and apart from the Carroll/Suarez issue is that players who play in accomplished positions and not natural just do not perform to the standard you want and with the liverpool players this makes it so hard to select a formation.
What I am going to try is the 4-2-3-1 Asymetric formation, has anyone tried this? This way Lucas, Meireles, Gerrard, and Kuyt play in their natural positions. I found that everytime I used an AML or R with just central midfielders I got seriously punished down the wings as there is no cover. Having a defensive midfielder will also help with away games. I also bought M'Vila and played him in the 442 and he just did not perform because he is only accomplished, with his natural position a DM. So my team will be:
-----------------REINA----------------
JOHNSON---CARRA---AGGER---AURELIO
---------------------LUCAS------------
-----------MEIRELES--------COENTRAO
KUYT---------------GERRARD----------
----------------SUAREZ-----------
I will also prepare the reverse tactic so i can have an AML which could be Suarez and have Carroll up top. Then I can use 442 at home and this one for away and tough home games. The game unfortunately does not allow a passing game to be played with lots of crosses for Carroll. It seems to determine that a passing game means you want to walk the ball in the net. What ever happened to mixed passing?
