More likely to be Coquelin ^. More experience, better player according to most people. But I think we're covered there tbh

The fact that, whilst Szczesny is surely set to be a great keeper, we're then left relying on 3 keepers who are poor and error prone.(Almunia, Fabianski and Mannone)

mannone aint ****. LOL

is wojo, flapss, and then vito. almulia will sleep all day.

Beautiful stats. I agree that Clichy is the best Left back in the league defensively, and I'd love to see him stay; however, Gibbs is perfectly capable of stepping up, for sure, and if he can bring the best out of Clichy, that position is sorted. It's a shame our two great fullbacks are let down by the weak Goalkeeper position and somewhat shakey central defenders.

we let go one of teh Best Lb's , and englands no.3, Ashley Cole.

i till think we got good LB in epl. but i like evra's attitude of 'getting the work done'

Why are you posting it e'rywhere?

Oh he just follows the example of Joss. When Joss sees a link he likes on Twitter, he promptly retweets it, comments on it, and then posts it all over FM-Base. Monkey see, monkey do and all that. ;)

What I'm not understanding in Wenger bidding for Mata is hes purely a AML/LW player yet hes talking to Gervinho (Dragging out personal terms in a 14 million pound move), so Gervinho/Mata in...Where does that leave Arshavin/Walcott? :|

There is a little speculation that Wenger might be willing to let Walcott go if a good bid came in since he has been disappointed with his progress. I would go on a limb and say almost every top club in Italy/Spain would move for Walcott since hes so uniquely quick and he would tear those leagues apart playing on the counter. Oh and Wellington Silva+Pedro Motelho (Probably mispelt that) are being shifted out to Levante on loan for the season again, no word on Ryo Miyaichi and whether he will go back out on loan or stay at Arsenal.

Lmao nice.

it should be in the chelsea dissucion thread.

he actually did what u suggested only to be replied back by a frankly worst post except we have the class not to post it everywhere on Base ;)

^ lol. Firstly, Gervinho isn't dragging out personal terms - the deal is all but done. BBC's David Ornstein and Young Guns Blog both suggest it's simply a matter of the website staff getting off their arses and doing the PR + waiting for the main window to open, whereas other sources say that a deal is still being arranged with Lille. Asking price is €15m, we're paying more like €13m. Seydoux said:

"We know that Gervinho has a personal interest in joining Arsenal... We have maintained contact but still the Londoners have not presented us with a formal offer. Negotiations are ongoing but Gervinho has demanded a solution to the situation soon."

Secondly, Mata story is BS. I think there's a hint in that only The Sun and Daily Mail are reporting this, with the latter claiming an exclusive (= false most of the time). Wenger likes him, but was put off a few months back by the asking price. €20M (= roughly £18m) is his release clause, but Juve, Inter, Real and Barcelona at the head of the queue according to Sport.es...

(EDIT) AS report that the clause doesn't apply to non-English clubs and they haven't received an offer.

Thirdly, Wenger rates Walcott. He's had his best season in an Arsenal shirt and is clearly getting better. Interest in Gervinho and Chamberlain doesn't signal end for Walcott at all.

Fourthly, Wellington Silva is getting a chance in pre-season. He could go on loan to Levante (although, despite new manager, I doubt he's keen after his last experience). The Levante story is about 2 weeks old, but as usual the tabloids may have re-circulated it because they have nothing else to talk about. Pedro will go on loan - probably to Levante because they now have the same manager as Pedro had at Cartagena.

Ryo won't stay at Arsenal next season. He was withdrawn from all of the Japan NT squads (Snr., U21, U20) for some reason and now the only question is whether he'll go on loan to Feyenoord or somewhere else. Arsenal want a fee this time, though and Feyenoord now claim they have other options for his position. Anderlecht is a possibility with Arsenal forming some sort of partnership with them a month or two ago.

And Botelho, not Motelho ;)

just wonder were mata would fit in the puzzle, since gervihno's bid is done, and alex chamerlian too.

Dennis "Iceman" Bergkamp has been appointed as Ajax's assistant-manager, and will also oversee their youth structure. Congratulations to him, hope he does well and comes back to Arsenal eventually!

I still think he should have stayed as a Youth coach at Arsenal but it seems he's doing well. Congratulations, DB10.

Huge congrats to Dennis, maybe a replacement for Pat Rice when he leaves, or, if he has the success elsewhere, the top spot itself!

As for the transfer talk, I have to agree that Mata is very unlikely, I think Walcott will only get better, and that sort of position is a of a lower importance. Good to hear the Gervinho deal is very nearly done!

International: White, Yankey start in draw

England Women’s team are out at the World Cup in Germany. Arsenal.com will be following the Arsenal Ladies at the tournament.

Faye White, Rachel Yankey, Ellen White
Mexico 1-1 England, June 27

Hope Powell’s side will be disappointed to have only drawn 1-1 with Mexico in their Group B opener at Wolfsburg on Monday. Fara Willliams put the Three Lions ahead in the 21st minute but Monica Ocampo equalised just after the half-hour. Faye White captained the side and Rachel Yankey also started for England. Ellen White began on the bench but replaced Karen Carney with 18 minutes left. Steph Houghton was an unused substitute.
