ANYWAY about Arsenal. When's the ****** Gervinho story ending? For the past week I've heard 'Gervinho set to be announced tomorrow'.
Arsene is meeting Gervinho this week - he's been on holiday. Formalities agreed, just some stuff to iron out + the website staff suck balls/
Feyenoord have revealed their doubts over re-signing Ryo Miyaichi on loan, after Arsenal cleared the way for the Japanese winger to return to De Kuip next season.
Miyaichi will report for pre-season training with Arsenal next month, but Arsène Wenger’s initial plan to apply for a work permit appears doomed, after he was dropped from the Japan Under 22 side. A flood of offers have since arrived for Ryo, but Head Scout, Steve Rowley, has told the club a return to Feyenoord would be best.
Technical Director, Martin van Geel, confirmed an offer had gone in at the end of last season, and despite previously admitting his keenness to secure the 18-year-old’s services, van Geel now has doubts over the transfer.
“With Sekou Cissé and Jerson Cabral, we have two players who play in the same position as Ryo” he explained to Voetbal International. “We can’t turn a blind eye to this. We will have to analyse the situation and decide whether it makes sense to loan Ryo again”.
“Ryo is definitely worth it. The kid played amazingly well for us, but we need to look out for our own players”.
Feyenoord’s General Director, Eric Gudde, also confirmed the news Young Guns published last season, that Arsenal are now asking for a loan fee for Ryo. This initially put them off, but now Gudde says he is happy to pay it and make an investment in the player.
Whether Van Geel truly believes his statement or he is trying to force Arsenal into waving any fee, it remains to be seen, but Miyaichi’s short-term future still has a few twists and turns to come.
Last week I exclusively told you that Arsenal had had a bid accepted by Blackburn Rovers for Chris Samba, in the region of £9m. Samba has recently been out the country on holiday and both parties have waited for him to return to tie up the deal – mainly the wage agreement. I don’t expect us to have too many problems paying him the wages he wants and the deal should conclude fairly quickly. There is no big rush and no other club seems interested in putting in a offer for Samba’s services.
He returned to the UK on Wednesday and there should be meetings taking place before the weekend. Arsenal are also swiftly concluding a deal for Lille attacker Gervinho – there is currently no indication as to when the respective announcements will/would be made, but don’t get twitchy if they don’t occur immediately. They are always carefully timed.
Arsenal are still actively pursuing another center-back, and believe it or not, another goalkeeper. Any other transfer activity is set to be based around the futures of current starting eleven players Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri and captain Cesc Fabregas – all with uncertain futures.
Young defender Tom Cruise, who was released by Arsenal, will have a trial at Reading next month in a bid to win a professional contract.

Ideally, I think a move to Feyenoord would be the best option, but there are reports that Anderlecht are trying to form a partnership with Arsenal, so maybe he'll go to Belgium instead?

And on Samba, for Calum:
Wage agreement all that is left in Samba deal | The Goon Blog
Idk but I could see Clichy going, another CB coming in, (Sakho, Cahill Etc) Verm being moved to left-back.
Vermleen is better of a CB. LB is not is real position.

I'm not denying that, I'm just stating what I think may happen.
but AW wont put TV5 as and LB. maybe Gibbs (fingers crossed) or Armand traore will fill that gap
Okay, Mr Arsene.
He has a point, actually. Wenger won't sacrifice the width a true left-back affords him high up the pitch, he can't afford to with an inverted winger on the left. So either he invests in a new one or doesn't sell Clichy.
I'm not denying that, I'm just stating what I think may happen.
I hope not.
His positioning isn't great as it is, and he isn't a great crosser so don't really see how he'd fit in there. Strong and athletic, but surely his positioning is just as suspect as Clichy's sometimes is, therefore a role where he can step up and rely on others to play offside is better?
Sakho would be more comfortable at LB if you signed him (which I can't really see happening now as PSG have been bought out). If Clichy does leave, I expect a replacement to come in
I still think his positioning is good enough for a LB. let's face it, we rarely cross the ball as it is. The option being there is all well and good, but when we don't use it it's effectively useless. I'd rather have a solid LB than one that can run up the pitch just to pass it back into CM.
