God Xavi is impatient, like a child in a car on a long journey saying 'Are we there yet?'

Some good comments from Arshavin on Arsenal.com - hope it happens (all of it...)

Andrey Arshavin has set himself a 15-goal target for the new season.

The Russian playmaker showed glimpses of his best form last term and he is determined to scale the heights that made him an instant hit with the Arsenal fans following his arrival in 2009.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's Emirates Cup, Arshavin predicted an improvement from the whole squad in 2011/12.

“I think we will get stronger and stronger," he told the Official Matchday Programme.

"In particular I think our work on set-pieces, both attacking and defending, will be better. We’ll also play a pressing game – if we do that well, I’m sure you’ll see an improved team.

“My own target is simple - I would like to score 15 goals in total.”

Arsenal kick off their Emirates Cup defence against Boca Juniors on Saturday before concluding this year's tournament against New York Red Bulls on Sunday. For Arshavin it will be ideal preparation for the new campaign.

“It’ll be a good weekend – it’s the first time most supporters can see us this summer and it’s a tournament that I enjoy," he said. "We have two games against strong teams and it’s the right kind of competition for this stage of pre-season.

"I always enjoy this tournament and hopefully we’ll show plenty of good things, but to be honest it’s not vital to win it. We’ve done that twice since I’ve been here and didn’t win any trophies the following season, so I’d happily swap!"

Spanish press reporting Arsenal are on the verge of signing Mata for £15m...

Couple of things I understand from this, from my own experience, and reliable twitter sources:

a) Spanish press have a reputation for being - how to put it - economical with the truth. "About to sign" could simply mean that they've heard Valencia are willing to sell and Arsenal would be the most likely destination, as it seems to be with the Fabregas situation... But a lot of papers (El Mundo Deportivo, Sport, Marca, AS) and TV are picking up on it now and insist the fee is just £15m.

b) English sources seem to have nothing - nothing from Guardian, Telegraph, etc. or even in the tabloids from what I've seen. Seems a little too good to be true somehow.

c) @LeylaHamed on twitter - an apparently reliable Spanish Journalist/Journalism student says that Mata is more than likely to leave the club this summer, going by his latest interviews (which I haven't seen) and that Arsenal are favourites, but says that the wording is probably a bit off from the Spanish press and it's not as close as they're suggesting.

d) Would be an awesome signing - versatile, Arsenal-type player (Hate that expression) and a bargain if we get him for that.

He was, apparently, but opted for Downing.

Hope he stays, Valencia are my Spanish team of choice.

At least we're getting Afellay at Tottenham, 100x better than Mata at Arsenal.

Don't celebrate just yet, have you people not learned that until he has signed on the dotted line that anything can go wrong? We don't even know if it's a concrete offer yet, just a bunch of Media sources saying so. Like they've never been wrong.

I'd like Mata, but until it happens I'm not getting too excited about it.

I heard a £15m bid was made for Mata. Hopefully we get him for that cheap!

And besides, about Samba wouldn't that be too many defenders? Djourou, Squillaci, Koscielny, Vermaelen are their already and one or two more will force someone to leave or be stuck in reserves for their career.

the Metro have exclusive news of Bendtner's imminent move, which should be good. We've signed Gervinho who can play wide-right and up front (where NB52 was played last season) so not worried about our quickly diminishing squad being further affected by his departure. Good player, but his ego prevented him from becoming as good as he can be and getting his head down. Spent too much time complaining about his role in the team and not enough time working hard to change his role in the team.

Guess what?

Papers say Cesc is leaving. Er. Again.

Apparently he won't play at the Emirates Cup (I still believe he's injured, but maybe I'm being naive) but will be with squad.

Which papers?

I believe only Sun, Daily mail and Mirror.. Nothing else.. ;)

Which is why we should sell squillaci

Jeremy Wilson of the Telegraph say he won't play in Emirates Cup. Rest is just twitter "sources".

Mirror had a line that his move was imminent because he was being left out of the Emirates cup. They never mentioned his injury. :/

Oh Telegraph.. Wont be reading much between the lines. If he is not playing, he is not playing thats it as he had small injury concern. I will only believe only when the transfer is published in official website..
