To be honest I quite liked the youth system even if we didn't win anything. All these expensive transfers could disrupt what Arsenal use to be. Sure, it didn't win a single thing and lost large leads but still that's Arsenal.

Since when have Arsenal not been about winning things? dont let the last 6 years cloud what Arsenal can do. And i say that as a United fan

They haven't made an expensive transfer yet. Unless you would count the Gervinho transfer as being one. In that case they have done it before.

True, Gervinho wasn't expensive but the other transfer targets (even though they might be rumours) seem quite expensive.

The Emirates Cup isn't on TV this year is it? I was looking forward to watching that as well :(

[h=1]TEAM NEWS: Gervinho, Jenkinson both start[/h]
The Emirates Stadium crowd will get its first sighting of Arsenal's new signings on day one of the Emirates Cup.
Gervinho and Carl Jenkinson have both been named in Arsène Wenger's starting line-up for Saturday's game against Boca Juniors.
Lukasz Fabianski makes his first appearance on English soil since hurting his shoulder in January while Robin van Persie captains the Gunners.
Benik Afobe and Kyle Bartley are among the substitutes.
Thomas Vermaelen, Wojciech Szczesny andTomas Rosicky have been rested but could feature against New York Red Bulls on Sunday.
Arsenal team: Fabianski, Jenkinson, Koscielny, Djourou, Traore, Frimpong, Wilshere, Nasri, Gervinho, Arshavin, Van Persie. Subs: Sagna, Vela, Ramsey, Song, Squillaci, Mannone, Eboue, Gibbs, Chamakh, Afobe, Bartley.

So I'd imagine this would be the formation.

Fabianski
Jenkinson Koscielny Djourou Traore
---------Frimpong Wilshere
Gervinho--------Nasri------- Arshavin
-------------Van Persie

**** me Arsenal.

How do we have this uncanny way of just throwing away good leads?

Yet to see the game properly because I had pretty bad seats but Traore seemed awful, and we just switched off with our 2nd string at 2-0 up.

Gervinho looked good... Nasri indifferent again in the AMC slot, Traore poor at LB - thought he was partly at fault for the first goal and was slow in tracking back, as well as often not seeing focused a lot of the time. Seemed unaware of where his mark was.

mainly djouro's mistakes for those two goals. he keeps loosing him man time to time. too faulty. i would see kos and vermaleen as ur starter CBs.

armand is quite poor. has been on loans alot. dim future. i would like Enrique to come after armands bad performance.

Don't understand the partnership of him and Squillaci. Both poor in the air, both error-prone... Djourou desperately needs to find some form - he's lost all confidence because of his end of season. He was superb with Kos for most of the season but dreadful in tail-end.

Chamakh needs some form too - was really impressed with him for most of last season but for various reasons, he lost form and confidence. I would've thought that would be sorted over the summer break (forget last season - move on etc.) but it hasn't been.

Squillaci just proving we need a new CB... Who was it that made the initial mistake for the equaliser? Giving the ball away cheaply.. Looked like Jenkinson?

Very This. kewon is also saying about bring English players in. but hard to see. i mean cahill is expensive, still in bid with jakielka, who else is there Dann , dystan. ? today performce really tells us we need a new cb, if it goes on like this. other than that djouro must cope with standards.

chamak need to be in form, and be like a sub for RVP. never than less. gervhino impressive again. great assist.

Made me lol.

And quite frankly Joss, it's not a team thing, it's an individual thing. Squillaci was a moron for the first goal, while Djourou was a moron for the second.

well the back four was weak again, aside for carl jenkison. the thing is Djourou has become error prone.

Not that I'm trying to protect him, but what did Squillaci do for the first? I thought Traore did a poor job of closing down his mark and was poor defensively all game. And it is a team thing - we took our foot off the gas (if it was ever on) after we got G2. I think - I hope (Desperately seeking excuses) - changing the team so much at HT disrupted the flow of the game (although Nasri at AMC did this anyway I think) and Boca's goal was coming. We got away with a couple of tight offside calls and then tried to play OS again, and failed for the first goal.

Djourou was being a mong for the second - plays his man onside, goes to ground when he shouldn't, gets the tackle wrong in the end anyway, wrong-foots Mannone.

even in the first half boca had a clear cut chance. called offside, but i cant believe the defense let the ST go like that easily.

Got caught in possession, then was too slow getting back after losing it leaving Djourou in no mans land.

Getting caught on the ball like that is a mistake I would expect from a 18 year old, but from a guy with Squillaci's experience it is completely unacceptable.
