Joel Campbell deal was off few days back isn't it.. Joss said something like I dont prefer players like him when he didn't meet manager/representatives.

So is it done deal or rumored to be?

go back a page :)

I think this is the first time I have posted on another club's thread but I have to say that as an Arsenal supporter, I would have been climbing the walls because of the imminent departure of two of my team's best & most creative players without having seen any significant new recruitment to midfield or defence for that matter.

I know how frustrating it is when obvious weak points in the side are seemingly ignored (we've only just signed Enrique on the eve of the big KO) so I empathise. The Gooners are now in big time trouble to get replacements in with two & a bit weeks left in the transfer window & could well be held to ransom by selling clubs who know that you are suddenly cash rich, as we at LFC have found to our cost in the past.

Good luck with that.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, he cant be serious can he? :(

We will have a new centre-back by the end of the transfer window - because Vermaelen only played five games last year," he said
.

:'(

maybe well get some player by end day. much like how we got arshavin near deadline. both mata and a cb (cahill?)

Until the transfers are confirmed to be done (I guess when the transfer window shuts), I am going to reserve judgement. But let's be honest, this 'team' isn't good enough for 5th spot, let alone top 4 where we should be aiming.

then lets relegate. if thats what u want ^ :P

its a 6-horse title race. lets just see how we go on our first game, but i would like to see Mata, Cahill/ Dann ??/, and maybe Hazard by the end.

**edit***
liverpool bidding 12m + ngog (lol) for cahill. need to act fast!!!

He means other teams have reinforced well while Arsenal are about to lose 1 (2?) key players and have not reinforced one of their main weaknesses from last season, namely, a CB to partner Vermaelen. Thus, unless you get some players in you won't be able to challenge for the CL, never mind the title. He never said he wanted to be out of the fight. He's just being realistic.

I did say that, because it seemed like he was being a ****. But if he's now realised that or - as I suspect - the situation was misreported (a lot of it seemed to be about waiting until the U20 WC was over), then obviously I'm willing to ignore that if he comes in and gets his head down.

arsenal say the deal is done.

Arsenal say they've agreed a deal with Saprissa, haven't said whether Campbell has agreed terms (I assume he has though), Paperwork etc. to sort out as well.

What are you whining about? He said he wants a new CB because Vermaelen hardly played last season and we can't have another situation where our best CB is out and we don't have enough quality to cover for him.

orry for the plug, but it's about the club. Would like to know if people agree or not?

Roberto Mancini has renewed his criticisms of the Manchester City board, describing himself as "worried" going into the new season because of the club's inability to conclude their transfer business earlier in the summer.

Samir Nasri's proposed transfer from Arsenal would once again establish City as the biggest transfer-window spenders in English football, with a net spend in excess of £60m. Mancini, however, is becoming increasingly impatient with the length of time it is taking for his squad to be completed.

The Italian had expected Nasri to be confirmed before Friday's registration point to play against Swansea on Monday, and he still wants at least one more signing. "Last year was the same too," he said. "I don't understand this. I thought we could get all the players we needed three or four weeks ago. But here we are and the deals aren't closed.

"We need this player [Nasri]. I asked for this player two months ago. I'm worried because I don't have this player today and I probably won't have him tomorrow. We play three games in August and I am worried."

The Nasri deal has been held up because the clubs are arguing about the structure of the payments for a deal that would cost City in the region of £23m.

Some sources are reporting that Wenger has ruled out a double swoop for Jadson and Mata. I guess we won't be seeing them in an Arsenal shirt. :S

My theory on Arsene's policy is that he is stockpiling loads of money for when financial fair play comes in and Arsenal will be essentially the richest/best placed club in world football...

Then his masterplan is to buy Messi/Ronaldo and take over World football.

It's the only logical explanation as to why on earth he is so reluctant to buy players, I have the ultimate respect for what he has given to coaching/Premier League but his one blind side is his trait of having too much faith in players. Eboue, Bendtner, Traore, Squillaci, Almunia... List goes on, he needs to cut off the excess this summer and re invest the money NOW not next summer or the summer after...NOW. Because as it stands they are just on the brink of the top four in my view, even a CB wouldn't push them up...A new LB along with a CB might but I highly doubt he will sign both.

Silent Stan is being a little too silent with Wenger, needs to force him to buy some players even if it is slightly overpriced.

Lets remember though, Wenger did say yesterday morning Fabregas wouldn't be leaving. ;)

Luckily I have now 2 week vacation in Greece so I dont need to watch this Wenger Fuckup Show. Hopefully things will be better in September when I get back.

So what the **** has he been doing? ..

Well I'm not sure the Jadson story was ever real. Seemed odd to go for him in response to losing Cesc...

He didn't deny talks for Mata, so presumably he's been trying to do a deal for him and has now pulled out for one reason or another (Could he be doing a SAF?).

And in response to "What the **** has he been doing?" --> Looking for a CB? We sent scouts to watch a Moscow CB I think, though his name escapes me. Important to remember that Arsenal do as much in private as possible - if things are released early, like we saw with Liverpool to an extent, then teams simply hike up the price and other clubs become interested.

Apparently we could force Barca to give us more money by the way - they (or their players) broke a clause in the deal that said they couldn't talk about it before it was 100% done and confirmed. We could cancel the deal completely - obviously we won't, but it's pretty embarrassing for Barcelona who now have to back-track and say the deal isn't done. Ah the irony.

This is according to Catalan Conspiracy...

After today's blunder, Barcelona are in panic mode trying to hush the leak, as there was a non-disclosure agreement between the clubs.

Fabregas told his friends at Barcelona, who then leaked the transfer through their Twitter feeds.

Arsenal will now assess the situation and decide on whether or not to cancel the deal, which is unlikely. Fabregas will get his transfer.

There might penalty fees in the deal for breaking the NDA clause, could mean Barcelona will have to pay more.

As @cyhmk points out, most probable cause for a NDA is that Arsenal were looking for a replacement player, without having to pay over value.

Barca now fear that Arsenal will use the NDA clause to void the Fabregas transfer, which has already been agreed between the clubs.

Lets remember though, Wenger did say yesterday morning Fabregas wouldn't be leaving. ;)

**** off lol
