20 days to go. Until in my eyes the best sporting occasion on the planet, takes place once more. I know there is a squad selection thread, but being such a momentous sporting event, it commands its own thread for discussion for sure. Here is a preview for any newcomers who would like more of an insight into what this series is all about.

Shane Warne has warned England not to get too cocky in the run-up to the Ashes and questioned the ability of Andrew Strauss’s attack to bowl out Australia twice in a Test match.
The Australians went into this morning’s one-day international against Sri Lanka in Sydney on the back of six successive defeats, their worst sequence for 14 years.
But the leg-spinning legend turned the heat on England, claiming it could ‘end in tears’.

Swann will be a key figure for England, if he can have a good series and stay injury free then England will have a good chance.

Got more than a "good chance" anyway mate! I think for once we are favourites, and that is saying something especially seeing as it's downunder.

I never like to say England are favorites, pessimism I guess. Will be tough though, not doubt about it, especially as it's downunder
 
We'll lose, especially with such high expectation. Our record in Austrailia is woeful. Although man for man I think we're the better side, and have had a much better year then them, something tells me we'll lose :(

Be optimistic dude! We've got a great chance, they're no better than average.

Meh, it's a bit too slow and takes too long for me, I am a very impatient person. Never used to mind playing it in school but I have never had a keen interest in it.

I love that it is drawn out, makes the emotional rollercoasters even more vivid. I am turning nocturnal for it. FM11 and Ashes. What more can you want from life.
 
I still have dreams about the 2005 series. Everyone in school wanted to play cricket after that.

And I was there on the final day of the 5th test, in which we won it! Was immense, never ever forget it.
 
We'll win it, I think, 2-1. Here's hoping.
 
We will lose it. Abysmal record in Australia.

The optimist in me is hoping we can turn this record round though. We shall see what happens in the first test, if we get battered then we might as well just jump back on the plane home.
