I want england to win but i have australia are going to win just because many of englands bowlers are swing bowlers and people with that technique usual have a **** series down under.

Ashes is really the only cricket I watch but nothing better than getting one over the Aussies. However, we're never good down in Australia and don't they use a different ball in the southern hemisphere?

I suppose I am a cricket glory hunter. Channel 4 cricket (or is it channel 5) Ashes highlights is where it's at due to not having sky.

I loved channel 4 coverage back in the day. Everything about it made a test match special. Something to do with the way sky broadcast it, takes some of the magic away in my opinion. Yeah they use Kookabura balls in Oz, compared to Duke's which we use.

Day 4, The Oval, 2010, Flintoff, I was there ^^)

The Australian squad looks very strange, plenty of proven one day talent yet to prove themselves in the test match arena, ie. Callum Ferguson

You Poms will struggle out here as always, us Aussies are too good at home against England

he's got a point though, we never win on Australia soil, however I must say, this is the best chance we've had in years :D

You're right on both counts. Good to see Ian "Mental Disintegration" finally sticking it to Aussie bowlers, and he looks like he's in good nick. Bresnan's also putting in a good shift. So long as we have Swann, we have a chance.

It's going to be a HOT summer aswell, youse could struggle a fair bit in this heat

to be honest, I don't think heat's a problem, England always play in mass heat in winters, take Sri Lanka or Pakistan per ce, and this aclimatisation session at the moment seems good. As well, Australia A seem to have taken a pounding in the heat too, so, you never know?

I'm a bit tired to debate the possible disadvantages of the heat on English players, so I'll just say this:

Nathan Hauritz <)

We have the best chance we ever have to beat the chain gang down under

player for player we out class them
form we out class them
support, we out class them

i have never been so confident in an ashes series in my life! even a home series.

Im a massive cricket fan and will be up till the early hours supporting the lads every day i possibly can, wish i was there of course and one day i will travel down under, although have been at and Edgbaston test, one of the best sporting events iv ever been to!

Yes we have an awful record down under SO WHAT, records are made to be broken, if we can adapt to the hot weather, the ashes our ours plain and simple.

Its not as if we will find it intimidating down there, no warne, no mcgrath, no gilchrist, no lee, no hayden
those days of australia are long gone, they have a team FULL of unproven youth who wont have the heart and mind to wop us like previous australian teams.

we need to earn our pride back though obviously, its never a for gone conclusion although i think we will bring the urn back! If KP could find any sort of form in the first test the Aussies will be shaking in their shackles, he is the missing piece of the puzzle to a top class side.

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountains green
And was the holy lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen

And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills
And was Jerusalem builded there
Among those dark Satanic mills

Bring me my bow (my bow) of burning gold
Bring me my arrows of desire
Bring me my spears o'clouds unfold
Bring me my chariot of fire

I will not cease from mental fight
Nor shall my sword sleep in hand
'Til we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land
'Til we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land

What more inspiration do we need?

The Australian selectors have found yet another way to do their best to lose them the Ashes. Callum Ferguson.

Unfortunately I have to agree with that one, not proven at test level, will be interesting though :P

I totally agree with how confident your being WHO WOULDN'T BE! XD

We have a dreadful record down under,

and the optimism from us English this time around makes it the MOST interesting Ashes in my life time thats for sure, its been painful watching all of my life "down under" wise :@

Change is good :D

Makes a change eh? Used to be our selectors being ****...

The Convicts have had their fair share of horrific selection calls, though.

And plus, I think my 12-year old brother could select this England team tbh.

*Note: Ashes Time - time to whip out "Convicts" ;).

I remember everyone saying that about England in the world cup this year aswell though...

im not sure how old you are so i can't really say, but as far as my life has gone the 4 world cups i can fully remember, we were apparently winning every one of them XD

that is us predictable naive english with high hopes and expectations,

cricket fans although yes optimistic take a more realistic approach to the game,
with this being the worst aussie team in a **** of a long time on paper we have to be optimistic!
