Fantastic dive by Cole. I don't know what is more embarassing, diving without any possible contact, or still having that haircut at the age of 32.
The best part about it was that he took an extra step to make sure he was in the box and then went down.

Dull dull game. No fluency at all in either side. Lots of mistimed clearances and passes. Just a poor football game all around. Happy with a point though

Typical Chelsea performance under Jose playing the most boring football you will ever see and coming away with a good result. I am happy with a point tonight that's our toughest away game of the season out the way nice and early.

It's a decent result. Something to build upon. Let's see what moves we make in what's left of the transfer market

I remember a couple of seasons ago, AVB went with Chelsea to OT early on in the season. We lost 3-1 but that was one heck of an open and entertaining game. Total opposite here although the difference is one but crucial point

I'd say they were as good as each other, just at different things.

No, quick strikers were as much of a weakness for Vidic as anything (ie not a huge problem) when he was at his peak. Problem is, Torres is no longer the guy who burned Vidic repeatedly back then.

No matter how you dress it up, Torres has been a bogey to Vidic in the past. So of course Vidic would still rather not face him, been sent off 3 times against him as well. Schurrle wasn't the poor one tonight, it was the service behind him though.

Have to say though, the pivot was very uninspiring tonight. No creativity from either players and very lax passing from Ramires.

Ramires' long passing was dire although to be fair to him, he isn't really known for that aspect of his game. I think Van Ginkel would have been a better option to have on the bench than Mikel. Would have given us a different option

Next game against Bayern though. Mourinho vs Pep. Should be a great one. We will probably have a couple of new faces by then as well...

They never put the fear emotion in when they built Nemanja.

Pretty sure Vidic has never got a red card actually against Torres himself. The closest he came was in 2008 or so when Masch got sent off and Vidic spent the entire match bundling Torres over, and his worst performance against him was in that 4-1 where he got sent off (not for a foul on Torres though). The whole "Vidic is **** against Torres" is mostly because Vidic was playing against the best player of a style that he was weakest against. Now, Torres isn't that kind of off-the-shoulder poacher because he doesn't have the pace. Ergo, using him against Vidic wouldn't have any kind of greater effect. Vidic doesn't have an inferiority complex, he's ******* Nemanja Vidic.

Using Schurrle made a lot of sense when you get deeper into it, as he's the player who's most like what Torres used to be in Chelsea's team.

Listened to the 1st half at work and managed to watch the 2nd half and i must say this was always on the cards. Games between us two are normally quite tight affairs especially so early in the season. 7 points from 3 games with a trip to Old Trafford in that, i would have taken that 100%.

Didn't have much fire power upfront which worried me a little at times and do think Lukaku should have come on instead of Torres who just kept giving the ball away! Overall this is a point gained we will probably be the only side who get a clean sheet at Old Trafford this season so onwards and upwards! UTC

I KNOW CUBED. The point is that Torres has caused him many problems in the past, as you know. But even though Torres may not be the player he once was (slightly under exaggeration), it still would of been tempting in my view to start with Torres knowing it may of had a bit of a psychological effect. EVEN IF IT IS NEMANJA VIDIC.

Also not to mention Torres holds the ball a whole lot better than Benteke. (Waitwut).

Try again.. Even though Torres holds the ball up better than Schurrle, I just would of selected him to start if it was for me. But I'm not Mourinho... so ya know.

Vidic cannot feel fear. Vidic cannot feel anger. Vidic can only feel his opponents' suffering, and he revels in it.

Considering Torres came on, misplaced literally a third of his passes and matched Schurrle's dispossession and turnover numbers in half the time, it's ****** lucky you're not Mourinho really.

Screw your stats, Torres holds the ball up better than Schurrle. I don't care what your stinking stats say. Torres still had more of an effect on the game for better/worse than Schurrle did.

Mourinho says another player will be chosen in next 24 to 48 hours if Wayne Rooney is not coming.
