I hd a good chuckle at the massive rage thread on reddit with people claiming Barnes brutally tackled Matic before the red card. I watch the replays and Barnes was just passing, but apparently not everyone realizes passing the ball usually requires moving one's leg forward.

He did brutally tackle him though. He followed through with his foot way too hard. For me it was a clear red card for both players, but the referee obviously missed it. If he hadn't, a yellow would have been the very least.

My favourite reddit thread from today was when the Newcastle subreddit put up a post-match thread at half-time. Brutal.

Don't be ridiculous. He was swinging his leg to pass, Matic run in the way, that's it. Its not a red, not a yellow, and not even a foul. Have you ever even kicked a football, and I don't mean in FIFA 2015?

Tell you what, try powerfully swinging your leg at a concrete wall. See how easy it is to put it to full stop. If your theory that it takes delibrate action to 'follow through" is actually correct , you should come out completely unharmed out of this experiment.

Can understand why he reacted but you just can't do that nowadays with these refs and the rules regarding red cards. He's cost us big time.

Matic should hang his head in shame. He has cost us 3 points and the League Cup as well. Idiot

Also no words on the refereeing. Two clear penalties denied. Barnes shouldn't even have been on the pitch. Ridiculous

Dont bother mate. Tyton is our resident human movements expert. He usually says revolutionary stuff that is counter-intuitive and disagrees with what 99% of people are saying. Believe in him

The only way what I say can be counter-intuitive, is if you had your legs cut in an accident and ride on a wheelchair. Otherwise, go outside, make some passes while running and see on which leg you'll land.

If you're not familiar with the term "outside", its the place where your momma goes to buy you milk every morning, while you're sitting at home playing FIFA and fantasize about being a football expert.

You should try taking your own advice. You know, "don't be ridiculous".

Maybe he revolutionized the physics...everytime he makes a pass his foot lands on somebody's ankle... anyway I'm out of this argument as I couldn't believe what I was reading...

Pot calling the kettle black much? You say things that essentially disagree with what 99% of pundits, ex-players, managers and fans are saying and then accuse others of fantasizing of being football experts. That Everton player was merely trying to move his hand away from the ball right? LOL

Stephen Hawking would be proud mate

That's nonsense. That pic says absolutely **** all. It was just an accident, Barnes passed the ball and you can't just stop the swing of the boot as soon as you hit the ball.

Matic is lucky though not to get injured seriously, but it was just an accident.
