Liverpool need the League Cup more than Chelsea, I'm not going to moan or dwell on a League Cup game. Got big games coming up in the Premier League and the Champions League, Alex/Malouda hopefully wont be playing in them...

Another decent display by Romeu, would have liked Lukaku to get off the mark tonight but against a well drilled Liverpool team that's unlikely.

The tempo, still, is just so flat with the older players. Torres didn't stand a chance with the service he got tonight, tempo of the game was awful. Not entirely sure about the system either, didn't work at all.

why would they want the League Cup more than us?

David should have had a pen, and should have had two against him. Not want you need from a defender. A lot of seemingly unmotivated players out there. Carling cup or not, it was against another top team and you expect more than that.

And no Liverpool dont need it more than Chelsea, they just showed far more professionalism and desire than Chelsea

I think they do, personally, Chelsea have the Champions League and the FA cup distracting them from the league, which they are already having problems in, having the added games of the League Cup, which to be honest the top four shouldn't be bothered about, would only give them more distractions. I am sure, of all the competitions they are in, the League cup is the least appealing to win. Liverpool on the other hand, don't have Europe, and could do with winning some silverware this season, as do Chelsea, but I think their fans will be more concerned with the league and Europe, while Liverpool can concentrate on the league and then the 'national cups'.

But in fairness that doesnt mean they need it. Liverpool will take the FA Cup just as seriously as Chelsea, and given how the london clubs are playing, will be eyeing up 3rd or even 1/2nd in the league. Given how desperate liverpool to get CL football, you could also argue its way down on their priority. Dalglish wouldnt care about the CC if they fail to get CL football. But tonight wasnt a case of them needing, it was just one side being more professional than the other. Chelsea were below sloppy tonight for 70 minutes.

Chelsea looked pretty poorly motivated. Don't think it was a point of us playing well, just poor opposition tonight.

we need to have a serious look at the squad if we want to play good football, sigh all those years of paying premium money to buy players in their prime is now rearing its ugly head...

Dire performance aside, Josh looked very promising again before he came off. His first touch and composure on the ball are pretty amazing for someone that age.

Agreed him and Romeu show maturity beyond there age when in possesion

Just to clear up I'm not saying desire was a problem or Chelsea didn't want it as some sort of excuse, I'm just saying at this present moment Kenny and Liverpool could do with a League Cup more than Chelsea. Liverpool win the League Cup and the winning factor goes back into the club, Chelsea win the League Cup and it doesn't really matter I mean it's not a primary target for Roman or the fans.

Liverpool seem to be the only top 7 side that is actually defending at the moment, every other team is either in some sort of transition tactically or just goes out to score more goals. Thought Coates had an excellent game, but I'd never see anything other than excellence from Luganito. Would like nothing better than seeing him lift that trophy in February for Liverpool in his first season.

The problem with Romeu and McEchran and Bertrand in this game, is they're surrounded by tired or unmotivated other starting players who seem to not want to play mid-week unless it's a Champion's League fixture.

It's painstaking to see most of Chelsea's youth, that always seem promising, sitting on the bench for 90 minutes or shown back to the reserve or academy teams. They're not out on loan, but rather seem to be kept in case of an injury or knock to any of the first team players. Either rotate them into lots of fixtures or send them out on loan in January. This was my concern with the deadline-day acquisition of Raul Miereles. It puts a direct stop to new development in the central midfield. Then when you think about all the great progress McEachran was showing under Ancelotti last season and you just can't help to be a little irritated with the team selection, especially when the team is in this kind of form.

I have no problem with the way AVB wants to play, the problem is that he does not have a squad who can play his system well... Now if we had a squad of Torres,Mata, Goetze, Hazard, Ganso, Reus, Sturridge then I will be confident that we can outscore the opposition every game especially well-drilled defences like Liverpool but then we dont have that squad so for the time being until we get some good quality attacking talent in, I think AVB should revert to a more conservative gameplay against the big teams because I am honestly scared what Aguero and Silva will do to us is we make mistakes and let them run free

On the other hand, anyone else thinks Romeu should be a starter, he understands how to play in this system waay better than Mikel and he will defo become the better player is his recent performances are anything to go by
