IMO that was not a slap, Toure just tried to sort of pat on his head, but Mata pushed his hand which made it look like Toure swung his hand. On the other hand Kick was not needed. And Massive respect for Mata for not doing theatrics.

Pause at 0:14, his hand is touching his face before Mata moves his hand. It's disgraceful behaviour.

The likes of Rooney and Suarez would be getting hounded for what Toure did.

I can't think about the origin of it from their time in Spain, there was a game in 07 that Yaya Toure scored in and he elbowed Miguel in the face that annoyed Valencia's players. But anything since then I can't remember any particular incident between them.

No one can defend Yaya Toure, it does seem out of character admittedly, because if it was Suarez/Barton we would jump on them. My personal opinion on Barton aside, this is double standards that the coverage has been fairly minimal of Toure's actions.

The FA can't really stand up against it, Toure kicked Mata like Rooney kicked the Montenegrin player. If they charge Yaya retrospectively they can't give him more than a 2 games ban because it would be hypocrisy.

The only reason I can think of is Mancini thought that if you rattle Mata mentally he will not play as well. Like you constantly see Real Madrid doing to certain Barcelona players, that's the only explanation I can think of because in 4 years of watching Yaya Toure I've never seen him do anything as blatantly violent.

BTW, what do you think of Vargas? Would our style and English football in general suit him?

Vargas has the pace, but there's always the question of adapting to the Premier League's style of play. Physicality, strength, vision, etc. He seems more of a replacement if Kalou leaves in the winter window, which I hope, the directors are thinking about. As for Anelka's replacement, a proven, pacey, and adaptable winger/striker is needed. But I highly doubt Chelsea will try for one in January.

I can see Vargas and De Bruyne coming in and possibly being used for cover on the right if need be in the absence of Anelka and possibly Kalou. Both are younger, more energetic, and can suit AVB's philosophy. But Sturridge should be 1st choice on the Right for the rest of the season. He's having quite the breakthrough season at the Bridge.

Vargas' agent has been speaking about Premier League interest in the past 24 hours actually.

Mark Griffith's is his agent, track record for dealing with Premier League/Serie A clubs primarily.

He basically said there has been no official bid from Chelsea but that the head South America scout at Chelsea Jorge Alvial has been in contact with UDC over his progression along with talking to the player himself about his development.

As for whether or not he's ready, I think this window is the perfect time for him. He gets to go out on a high this month, he's at a good age and his physical stature is not dissimilar to Alexis Sanchez so in my opinion he is ready. He can play winger/striker, he has explosive pace and skill so in that respect he could easily fill Anelka's role. I see him eventually becoming a Hulk type winger, more of a forward than a usual corner flag to corner flag winger.

Value wise, his club are holding out for £10 million. It does look like he'll be in Italy or England in January, I can certainly see the club signing him. Talk of Liverpool being interested but Chelsea have far superior connections in South America especially with Alvial, if the club want him they can get him there's no doubt in my mind.

The next question is; Griezmann or Vargas? I for one would wanna have a winger who can play both flanks.

Reports in Wednesday morning's papers suggested the Londoners are prepared to cut the losses on the out-of-sorts 27-year-old, who has scored just three goals in 25 league appearances for the Blues, and sell him for a fee of around £20m.

But Curbishley says it would be unfair to judge Torres' Stamford Bridge career until he is given a prolonged run of matches as a starter.

"Torres is under so much pressure but has he really been given a run of six, seven, eight games, knowing he's playing?" he added.

"He's been enjoying one game here, two games there and then coming out of the side.
"I think Villas-Boas needs to give him a run, just to see if he can get back to his Liverpool form, and then if he's not performed, go to the chairman and say: 'We need another centre-forward'.

"But if the figure is 20 million, then they'll be people out there wanting to buy him."

Okay now, GIVE HIM A BREAK ffs.

Sadly,"Torres might be sold in January!!!" sells a lot more papers than "Torres is going to have to wait until at least January before the club start consistently playing a style that suits him."

The statement reads:

'Contrary to reports, Ashley Cole did not say anything to the opposition in the tunnel after Monday's game. Ashley has huge respect for the players and staff at Manchester City, many of whom he knows personally and calls friends.'

yea right, call YAYA a friend. utter bull this statement is. Only Ashley knows the truth.

I really hope he did taunt them about Thursday nights, it would be pretty hilarious.

What's the best4231 tactic to use for the mighty Chelsea on fm12??

Standard back four

Ramires/Meireles- CM support/ Box to Box
Mikel- DLP

Mata- Inside forward/ Winger Attack
Lampard- AM Attack/Support
Sturridge- Inside Forward Attack

Torres- Advanced Forward

Can't see us going for Higuain for the reasons discussed 20 pages or so ago.

Had a little bit of time this morning so I collected some stats. I'll chip in with some analysis this evening but for now feel free to interpret them. ^^

[Attacking]
We hold an average of 57% possession per game, 2nd in the league behind Arsenal.
Our pass completion rate is 85.8, 3rd behind Arsenal and Swansea.

We put in an average of 24 crosses per game, the 4th highest in the league. By contrast, Man City put in just 18.
We put in an average of 6 key passes per game, 3rd in the league behind City and Arsenal on 8.
We put in an average of 62 long balls per game, making us 16th in the league. Arsenal and City take 20th and 19th respectively.
We put in an average of 467 short passes per game, making us 4th behind Arsenal, City and Swansea

We have an average 17.4 shots per game, 4th behind Tottenham, City and Liverpool (damnit Suarez!)
We have an average 6.4 shots on target per game, 4th behind Tottenham, City and United. (oh Suarez...)
Only City (33) have scored more goals from open play than us (25)
We've scored just one goal from a fast break.
We've scored 5 goals from set pieces this year, City and United have 10 and 9 respectively.

37% of our attacks come from the left side, 28% from the middle and 35% from the right.
Despite this, 57% of our attempts have come from the middle.
We make 8.6 dribbles per game, 4th behind Arsenal, Wigan (?!) and United.

32% of the game happens in our own area making us 16th behind the 2 manchester clubs and Arsenal.
45% of our play occurs in the middle of the pitch, making us 4th behind Arsenal, City and Swansea
Just 23% of our play happens in the opposition half, the 14th worst in the league (though only 5% off of top spot)
We concede just 1.9 offsides per game, 7th best in the league.

[Defending]

No team has conceded less shots on goal with us, at an average of just 10.4. Pragmatic Everton are in 19th.
We put in more tackles per game (19.9) than any of the other top 4 clubs, 10th in the league overall.
We make 16.2 interceptions a game, 8th best in the league
We concede 11.8 fouls per game, 4th highest in the league

Heard Villa has broken his leg last night, so this ends all that speculating regarding him moving away.

If Sturridge wont make it to Euro then I will never ever rate Capello. Awesome talent.

Couldnt agree more mate. Heard media/so called pundicts saying he has only been on form for 5-6 months. Erm no, this is a man who has been taring appart defences in the PL since last January.

Last 5 mins possession stats must be Drogba 80%, out of play 10% and City 10%. Awesome Drogba.

I thought he had a average game until the clock struck 88mins lol, City just couldnt touch him.
RAMIRES IS ONE OF THE BEST

I keep realizing this with every game he plays. Awesome. Just awesome.

The man is immense, took 5ish months to get used to the PL last season but we are using his main attribute and thats his electric pace.

Haven't had the internet since last Friday so i have missed alot lol. What a ******* game that was Monday night, i must admit after 30mins i thought we were going to get absolutely tonked. But AVB changed the system and had 2 backs of 4 to which City couldnt play through and started a few long balls, thats when i first thought hold on we might get something here. I used to like Yaya Toure but now he is a right muggy ****, well i thought that about him when he kicked and then slapped Mata (by the way Mata showed how mature he was). But by the end of the game i wasen't annoyed because Mata well and truly had the last laugh when he made 3 City defenders look like Sunday league standard only to be steam trained down by Kompany (which also should have been a red card as he was already booked). Huge credit to Terry, Romeu, Ramires, Mata and Sturridge who were all outstanding and its beccoming a regular theme with the same names every week.
