Of course he had two windows, he managed to get rid of Zhirkov, Anelka and Alex and bring in Mata, Romeu (who was 100% his signing), Meireles and Cahill. AVB joined Chelsea right at the start of the transfer window he made signings and sold Zhirkov, he made changes just not enough its that simple. People give Anelka a bad name but what did he do wrong at Chelsea?? Even when he was forced to train with the youth team he didn't kick up a fuss at all. Shangai paid and are paying a lot of money for Anelka so if things arn't right with the coach then there is only going to be one winner. Anelka or Tigana in terms of sponsorship possibilities, drawing bigger players in and worldwide coverage?? No real contest is there.

OK, you really need to stop being so one eyed about your club. and learn about your finances. You bought Mata and Romeu and Meierles and Cahill, because that is what you could get away with considering FFP and players going out, and realistic player turnover.

As for Anelka, your justification is frankly wrong. Just because he may be a bigger name doesnt give him the right to drive out the previous manager. Thats ridiculous from him.

You firstly stated AVB couldnt sign anyome he wanted because the club would have had their targets. Romeu proves that you are wrong. Im not being one eyed at all as you know more than most i will critisise the club and have done in the past. Its my opinion on the situation and im not alone.

Umm, Romeu doesnt prove im wrong, and that isnt what i said. I said his choice of turnover was limited because the club had targets, and because of the financial window and money already spent, and realistically you are not going to get a massive one winow turnover without major major issues. Targets like Cavani etc were lined up last summer for THIS coming window, he got Romeu out of 5-6 targets. He has a list, that he couldnt act on until this summer. Roman still intends to act on this list if possible.

Because Meireles was brilliant in the first leg, tactically superb, improving.

Whereas Essien is the opposite, a bit like a sinking ship of late, he seems to be getting worse and is no where near reliable enough anymore to be put into the big games when he has been in such bad form. Not the player he once was and probably never will be.

I am not even a Chelsea fan and even I know why Meireles is picked over Essien.

you are a genius.

one thing you are right about though, Essien is the opposite of Meireles, indeed.

It is going to be a long night... They have had chance after chance so far.

Surprised Pique made it this far after he smashed heads

Why did he do that for? He knows every player is being watched all over the pitch. Silly boy

To be fair, he kneed him straight in the back. You can't do this, especially with Cahill already off. Terry practicing for the Euros...

I'd have to say this is the first "Fair and honest 100% red card" from the last 4 reds given to teams playing against Barcelona, it was a clear red.
