We are being linked with Mauricio Isla. Amazingly versatile. Decently young at 24. Capable player and I doubt he will cost over the odds.

Only problem is that he does not offer much on the attack despite being a excellent defender. I would not mind if we purchased him although I would still take Azpilicueta/Van Der Wiel over him

Although I very much doubt we will be making moves for an RB at the moment. All focus is on Hulk I'd say. When is he returning from international duty with Brazil or has he already returned?

I thought VDW is poor? if Isla is an excellent defender like you say, I'd rather have him.

VdW is competent defensively despite what people say and he is excellent on the attack. Something which we need as Bosingwa has left.

Azpilicueta is something like the best of both worlds. Great defender and very good attacker as well. Young and cheap. More expensive than VdW though but he should not cost more than 15m.

Isla is a good defender although he does not offer much on the attack.

Since we have Ivanovic who is a fantastic defender although he does not offer much on the attack.. I would look at Azpilicueta first before going for VdW or Isla.

Is any club even interested in Azpilicueta? and does Abramovich even know who he is?

Agreed. For me, Azpi 1st choice, but vdW could change my mind on that if he plays well at the Euros - wasn't the same last year, and this year an injury kept him out for a while. Then alternatives - Debuchy, Piszczek, Isla.

We were constantly linked with him in January, and there have been rumours the past month. I was told that he was an AVB target though, so whether he's remained a club target is unknown. Think he was linked with Valencia recently (what RB haven't they been linked with?!).

Debauchy is 27, would be a good signing although he is not in line with our Youth Policy so I doubt we will go for him. Isla is 23 although at RB he is a conservative defender who rarely goes forward so he does not offer us anything we do not already have.

And yes I agree that if VdW does well at the Euro's then I might go for him as well. What really makes me want Azpilicueta though is that Azpi is a complete RB who can defend and attack very well and since he is only 22, he has a lot of capacity to improve. He would be cheap as well considering Marseille are not in the Champions League and I doubt there will be many other top clubs chasing his signature
