Lots of those type of players start at 10, and move backwards, and end up being quite versatile if they develop well.

Yep, hopefully that's the case with McEachran. Suppose it will depend on the formation we play really.

Also, seems Lucas Piazón will be #31 instead of #35, not sure why he would change it – possibly prefers that number I suppose – but it was on his training kit, so it seems his number's changed, maybe not though.

Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo believes Frank Lampard has long future at club - Telegraph

first big mistake (to be) made by RDM. He's 34 and has a year left, which means he will be 35 when the contract ends, what's the point?

RDM can hardly say Lampard is out after this season. Personally I feel Lampard will be granted a new contract with a significant wage cut so that McEachran is given more time to develop and become a viable option to use in the First-Team

We really cant go around granting 150k p/w contracts to 34 year-old players now what with the FFP coming into effect and all. We need to set-up a wage structure which is obviously missing in the club. Lots of work to be done if we really want to become financially sutainable

On another note, was just having a look at the 'new' faces in the academy...

Pretty excited to see that I will get to see Ruben-Loftus Cheeck playing. Heard a lot about him. Box-to-Box midfielder with great stamina, work-rate and good pace. Pretty highly-rated so lets see if he is the real deal

Also can see us going to the FA Youth Cup with Musonda playing in behind Feruz similar to the Piazon-Feruz axis we had last season in our winning campaign

Talking about youth players, we've signed a 15 year old center back from as cannels for a fee around about 250k

I've seen a bit of Loftus-Cheek and I could see the potential, unfortunately that was his first game back from injury though so he was a bit rusty. Seen him a bit a couple of other times too, but tbh I wasn't paying that much attention to him.

Yep, Musonda will be key. Not sure it's best to describe it as 'Piazon-Feruz axis' as Piazón was usually on the left, cutting in, with Lewis Baker more in the No. 10 position. But that's where Musonda will be, I'd think, so then it will be a Musonda-Feruz axis.

Just thought I'd let you know that I have it on very good authority you boys have got Ben Arfa, well, all but a done deal in any case. (Friend out here in France knows his agent quite well). Club had a meeting with him last Tuesday all a bit under the radar, personal terms seem to have been agreed but a deal is yet to be concluded fully with Newcastle yet. Due to be announced before the end of next week, most likely Wednesday I'm told.

Before you ask, no idea why you need him with Hazard and Marin but hey, I'm trusting my source enough to stick 40 quid on it at the bookies, not seen the odds yet.

I know people that like to post this kind of stuff for fun, so I'm not falling for it.

And I was expecting that kind of reaction. Check my posts, have I ever done it? I have a bit more of a life than going on forums posting false rumours. The facts I know are: Ben Arfa's representatives definitely met with CFC on Tuesday and personal terms have subsequently been agreed. Transfer is due to be confirmed by the end of next week at the latest. I trust my mate on this one, do with the info what you want, papers don't seem to have got hold of it yet.

Sky sports reporting we have had a €25 mil bid turned down for Schurrle.

Was just about to post this... I reckon 30m would be hard to resist although whether we are willing to go up to that price is another matter. Whether Schurrle is prepared to leave is also another matter although it would be a step-up for him.

Anyways as I always tend to look on the bright side... At least we have rumours of exciting young guns coming in instead of players leaving like other clubs

Just what you need. Another winger

To be fair we do need another winger as our depth was shocking last year and it is always good to have competition. Plus Schurrle offers something different on the right to Ramires.

Still a bit of a 'bonus' signing but whatever.. Its RDM's headache not mine and I rather we have an excess of quality players rather than none at all

If we do sign another winger however, I expect us to get rid of Sturridge.

Possibly... Might sell him to subsidize moves for Schurrle/Modric. Would be money well-spent in my eyes. I like Studge a lot but he is on a hefty contract and moans too much

I dont like his selfishness, and we will be better off without him. Indeed, we can use that money for other targets.

to be fair its not like Schurrle will be on a cheap contract, Neither will Modric. But in my opinion Schurrle is a better player than Sturridge and Modric fills a huge need ... enough to deserve good contracts

Looking forward to NextGen series as well. Be interesting to see how our youngsters compare with other elite academies in Europe like Ajax and Barcelona. Hope we take it seriously
