Fulltime 1-1. Positives where Ashley Cole looking very fresh and very attacking in this line-up, Essien controlled the game in the 2nd half and looked more the Essien of yesteryear, Marin looked sharp once again and Lucas Piazon scoring his first goal for the first team.

First half was a mess, we were absolutely clueless. Defending - meh.

Second half - much better. Marko Marin is a ******* beast with the ball. I think I love them both, Marin and Hazard, equally. Can't say I enjoy watching Hazard more. At least, as of now. Quality signings, both of them.

A little bit of 4-6-0 was introduced in the second half, with Piazon as a 'false nine'. Yes, playing with 4-6-0 like Spain is pretty much impossible with the players we have(and any other club on the planet has, bar Barca/Spain), as that system requires a specific type of highly gifted and intelligent midfielders, like Spain/Barca have, but we played it pretty good I should say. Well, it worked out. Nothing too flashy, just pure passing basically. Very impressed with Marin so far as I said earlier; Piazon was mobile, Essien impressed too. Ramires is a beast, no point of discussing him.

1-1 with a much sharper PSG side is not bad. We must improve on our defending though.

Decent stuff so far. Enjoyed the attacking part of football we played.

Piazón was not playing as false 9. False 9 is being thrown around way too much recently. Sure, Piazón isn't a striker, but that doesn't mean he can't play there without being a false 9. He played out of position as a striker, even Robbie said so.

Torres will join the squad tomorrow, and could play at the weekend.

As for the game, 1-1's a good result. Few positives and negatives, which I might touch on tomorrow, if I remember.

What is with everyones sudden obsession with the 4-6-0 and playing with a "false nine"?

There is no way that Chelsea will play this formation at anytime, we have neither the players nor the manager for this to be possible. Please stop using it incorrectly and saying that "Chelsea will play a 4-6-0 with Mata or Hazard" because they wont!

Thought it was good for us to earn a draw considering the average age of our attack was 20. Kakuta was dire and I don't see how he will remain with us next season as he wants. Lukaku looked decent although he still needs to continue working on his technical attributes.

Marin continues to look sharp and Ramires is a beast

Internacional President confirms that Chelsea and Internacional have a verbal agreement in place for Oscar. Obviously its more than a verbal agreement because Oscar has already had a medical. Personally this transfer is not confirmed for me until Oscar holds up a Chelsea shirt and smiles at the camera's.

Also Van Der Wiel is set to move this summer. The question is where. Hopefully we do not go for him because he has really stagnated in the last couple of years. would prefer Azpilicueta over him especially after seeing VdW performances in the Euro's

He was a false 9, Chris. He was way too much out of position to say he was a striker. He dropped deep way too much and too often, and he was going on the wing couple of times too. He wasnt a pure striker.

Glad Torres is joining though, I really, reaaally want to see him with Hazard, Marin and Ramires on the pitch.

Good times!

To me it looked like a False 9 in the truest sense of the world. As in, a non striker playing totally out of position, he played it like he was a wide attacker, because that is his normal game. and in doing so, inadvertently made it pay off.

Must... not... bite...

Must... not... post... 15 page... essay...about... 4-6-0...

aaaargh

...

Anyway, for the reasons I stated 5/6 pages back, I can't see us playing a 4-6-0 this season because it's a lot more complicated than people seem to realise. I can't agree that only Barca have the squad to pull it off: Real and City could definitely play it (a 4-6-0 of De Jong-Toure-Whatever DLP they want/maybe even Nasri-Silva-Aguero-Tevez would be insane...) and several clubs like Spurs and Juve are only a player or two away from being able to pull it off convincingly. The problem is that it is just a formation; you'll see a lot of people talking about the 4-6-0 as if it's some sort of footballing perfection but in reality it has it's strengths and weaknesses just like every other formation. Unlike most other formations however, it doesn't translate well into tactical fluidity because to play it you either need a forward that is equally comfortable as an AM or a top class striker who is happy to warm the bench. That's why I don't think you'll see it feature in any meaningful way in our campaign, the commitment it takes to pull it off requires you to basically go all in or have such an abundance of talent that you can do whatever the **** you like.

Anyone got a link to the game though? I missed it and I'd like to look at how Piazon played for myself. Saw him a couple of times in the youth team last year and he looked a class above. The one worry I had about him was that he lost his cool a lot when things didn't go his way, reminded me a bit of Ronaldo in that he has bags of talent but he needs to learn to keep his temper from clouding his judgement.

what about hulk? is he still in our plans?

Perhaps the Oscar transfer might prompt Hulk into forcing a move through. Last I heard Chelsea were only willing to go up to 30m Euro's while Porto wanted 38m Euro's. If Hulk hands in a transfer request then it might force Porto's hand.

One thing is for sure is that we are definitely in for a wide attacker. Also Schurrle came out and said that it would have been difficult for him to turn down a move to Chelsea. Leverkusen are also open to selling... I say we go back in and try to get a deal done for Schurrle. He has all the tools to become world-class one day in my opinion

Chelsea would have been very interesting for me. You don't get a chance like that very often in your life ... They could not find a suitable replacement and I am too important to Bayer.

He didn't do much. Took his goal well but overran the ball in some good positions. Still did better than Lukaku though. The game was all about Veratti to be honest, ran the show.

As for Hulk, I think we'll get him after the Olympics. Need him desperately.

Him and Oscar combine really well for Brazil. All just speculation really but surely Hulk's desire to move to Chelsea will be strengthened by Oscar's transfer.

Finally someone who gets the ball turns and runs at defenders!

Not too long ago when they were both at Bremen, Ozil was pretty much neck and neck with Marin. I'll stick my neck out, I think he'll adapt better and faster than Hazard will.

I read something the other day on Marin from a German journo and he said when Marin and Ozil both cam through that Marin was more exciting than Ozil. Two things held Marin back, Ozil got a move to a giant club at the right time where Marin's was a year too late and Marin had some injury troubles. If he can get back to full fitness playing for a bigger club then there is no reason why we can't see the potential he showed 2 years ago and if he does, boy we will really have a special player.
