Because the Community shield cannot be characterized as a 'competitive fixture' according to the FA which is fair considering the participants only take it half-seriously and your allowed stuff like 7 substitutions

John Terry's 3 game champions league ban has been reduced to 2. Good day for us and potential bans!
 
Ryo Myiachi has joined Wigan on loan. Seems like Moses is a certainty now barring a last minute glitch

The same FA that banned Rooney and Scholes for getting sent off in a Friendly game *Amsterdam cup I think against Porto. FA and their rules are always lolworthy.

I agree FA are ****, but its a different case now.

Hopefully it will be done before the start of the season... we desperately need a back-up RB. Our current ones won't do especially if we are looking to be serious contenders this season
 
We need a right-back and a striker...striker more importantly. Torres and Sturridge just can't do it by themselves over the course of the season. We need to sign someone like Cavani.

We need a striker as bad as we need a RB. And Cavani would cost 35m+, if not 40+. Yes, he is a beast, but too expensive.

I heard Napoli had accepted a bid and the stumbling block is his 150k a week wage demands. the exact opposite of Hulk, who will accept our wages but Porto won't take anything under 40M which he is definitely not worth. Especially after watching him play at the Olympics..

We do not need a big-name signing. I would prefer a cheap utility option like Schurrle/Doumbia who can complement Torres/Sturridge when needed. This is one area where we can and should avoid spending over the odds just to get a glamour signing only for him to sit on the bench.

I would have loved Rondon except he is off to Russia. Fits the bill perfectly. Cheap, young and bags of potential as well as the fact that he has different qualities compared to Torres so he would add something more to our team.

But yeah no need for Cavani especially when you consider Cavani cannot play anywhere else. Hulk is an option because his best position is on the right so at least he will play enough to justify the massive outlay and offers us an alternative to Torres/Sturridge if things are not going so well.

Lets see what happens on the Hulk front, now that the Olympics are over Hulk confirmed that he will be discussing his future with his club/agent. This is possibly holding us back from signing Moses outright

Doumbia is an option too. Really wonder if we are going to continue showing interest in Lewandowski.
 
Different qualities to Torres and fairly cheap (in comparison to other targets) = Fernando Llorente.
 
Yeah but Schurrle is not an out and out striker. We do need another world class striker that is guaranteed to give us some goals per season...20 at least. We're not even sure if our main striker will do that this season, though after the city game, there are positive signs.

Why do we need an out-and-out striker? We play with 1 up-front, so we'll have a big name on the bench, have Sturridge put down the pecking order, and stunt the development of Lukaku, Piazon and Feruz.
