For me, I say start Sturridge for a decent run of games. He cant really do any worse than Torres has done lately surely?

What's the worst that can happen? DS doesn't score? Not really much difference to Torres lately ^^)

That's not the point. No matter what your job is, when you see an unmarked team mate in the penalty area, the best thing you can do is pass the ball to him. Do you agree?

And to be fair, DS played most of his time (or all of it) out wide, so his main job wasn't shooting. Do you agree?

Certainly a fair point, particularly the latter, but then again Sturridge has the mentality of a striker. Perhaps playing him as one would reap the benefits? I think it's possible that Sturridge shoots so much when out on the wing because he's just not very good at doing the stuff a winger does - beating a man, crossing, playing incisive balls etc. - though it is undeniable his decision making is pretty bad.

Well.. that is nonsense if you ask me. You don't know that. Maybe he would've scored 10 goals (if DS had decided to pass) and his confidence might have increased? We don't know what would have happened.

Hey, if I can't assume that, you can't assume he doesn't want to change.

EDIT: anyway, I need to get out now, I'll be late for university. Will be happy to continue when I'm back.

I am so happy I'm taking a day off today. ;)

Didn't Sturridge have a fairly decent goal run at Bolton on loan a while ago? Was he played as striker there or as more of a winger?

Anyway **** 'em both and play Piazon ;)

Read the interview again, its more like he needed to speak. As I pointed out to GC, Torres interviews are almost theraputic in what he says and the language he uses, constantly conflicted, almost tormented. there was no agenda, just an honest outpouring. Its not about supporters or club, or even making himself look better, it just is what it is.

And no, not at all. See my thoughts on Rio for example. No justification for certain behaviour, i dont care how much they have done for the club. Torres has hardly hurt the club off the pitch, so to even bring that up when compared to others is very off.

I am not trying to question Torres' motives behind that interview. I am not going to be speculative.

All I am saying is that he could have avoided that interview. I am sure in his depressed state, he would have known now is not the right time to give an interview like that even if he had no agenda behind it and just wanted to speak out. He should have known it would have impacted the supporters.

Also All I said was that he is not helping the club off the pitch by doing things like that. I never said he was hurting the club. Perhaps I used the wrong words initially but your exaggerating the impact I felt Torres' interview had on the club. All I am trying to prove is that not only he is not helping the club on the pitch but off it as well.

Which is why GC and me have been advocating for him to play in a CF role where his 'selfishness' would have a far less impact on the overall attacking play of the tean.

But it barely registered on most supporters. You brought it up as somthing against, what I'm saying is that it has such little impact I cant see how you can hold that against him as hindering/not helping the club, when others have done MUCH worse. Most people dont even remember it. He didnt need to avoid to it because it really wasnt controversial

You promise?! :P

So if RDM plays him tonight, and we get eliminated because of DS' selfishness and not scoring a single goal, you will just say: "Hey, he is a striker, nobody can blame him!" ? I mean, what would you say when that happens?

Give him the starting spot, see what happens. I doubt he will get the run of games though.

Probably say 'you can't blame the whole result on one player that is shear madness. You can't fully judge him on one game, that's not fair'
Sound about right Alcaraz?

Sure, but again, it would not be just that one game. We've seen a lot from him.

And btw, was he a striker at Bolton? Can't remember.

I'm not sure if sending Sturridge against possibly the best defense formation on the planet is such a chance to prove himself ;)

Beast of a player. What about Weimann?

In my eyes, even better. I've been following Andy since he was in the reserves, and he has the potential to be an excellent player. Looking forward to his development.

To be fair, if he did say that, he'd be right.

Yeah, played up front.

Daniel Taylor ‏@DTguardian
Fernando Torres axed from #CFC team v Juve tonight and Hazard playing as striker, according to @neilashton_ big call from Di Matteo

So, all of us have just had a five page conversation on how to get the best out of Chelsea's striking options and not one of us saw that one coming.

Lol.

In all fairness, i'd imagine Hazard didn't see it coming either.

Nah, Roman doesnt even know who he is. I am impressed though.

Yeah, played up front.

He did alright at Bolton, but against brilliant defensive shields is a test of a different level.

His mother was a striker, so he can't be too bad surely?

So the rumours were true and Torres is dropped. No recognised striker. Ballsy from RDM.
