If every board listened to the fans a lot of clubs would be in bad situations. Why would he care about the fans? Its just a job to him. He knows the fans will stick by the club no matter what,,

You cannot just say: "We don't give a single **** about the fans". Fans are the longest and most loyal servants to the club, we love, we care, we are passionate about our club.

It is clearly obvious that John Terry racially abused Anton Ferdinand. On the otherhand, Chelsea went out of their way to make the situation (which wasn't even true) needlessly public, briging in unwarranted media focus as well as potentially ruining the career of Clattenburg. Yes, Chelsea should back any racial claims made by their players, but to let it escalate as far it has done is a disgrace.

In this day and age of media coverage it would have been found out anyway.

It was found out by the media beforehand, not specific details but a confrontation between ref and player.

Chelsea released a statement regarding the issue. The media escalated it. Not sure why I'm defending us against rose tinted glasses.

How? It wasn't captured on TV, the only people who heard it were on the pitch, none of the pitch microphones could have picked it up, and nothing was recorded. This could have not only ruined Clattenburg's career but also had him branded for the rest of his life as a racist.

Stop trying to defend the indefensible. Frankly I think the Chelsea deserve a ******* great huge punishment for this, not only because of their disparity between accusing Clattenburg of racism yet backing blue-eyed boy who can do nothing wrong John Terry when there was actually evidence for his racism, but also because those actions devalue the impact of racism so massively.

So the media knew there was a confrontation between ref and player, and Chelsea come out and say it's regarding racial abuse of their player by the referee.

And the media are the ones escalating it?

Fair point, although I do feel that Chelsea's actions have excacerbated the issue just ever so slightly. Can anyone tell me why the society for Black Lawyers got involved though? (serious question btw) :)

Mata, Mikel and Ramires are the ones that should be banned for 8 games each, Chelsea HAVE to follow through with allegations of racism made by their players whether true or not. Unless I am mistaken?

That would be fair, but Chelsea's lack of apology not only gives out the wrong message, it implies that they still think they're right, like the proverbial teenager muttering under his breath as he's put in his place.

Media know about everything that happen, if by a miracle they didn't find out on the day then they would have started asking questions when Clattenburg was not given a game to ref the week after.

I don't even want to talk about them, they actually **** me off so much.

Wishful thinking? Ramires believed 100% that he heard Clattenburg use a racist remark towards Mikel, why should be be banned for that? Both Mikel and Mata's statements were withdrawn when it was found that they didn't actually hear the racist comment.

If the complaint was about racial abuse then why not release it in a statement? If it wasn't racial its ok to say in a statement? Ridiculous.
The media then escalated it by publishing the specific insults between player and ref not Chelsea. Wheres the need to do that..

Now I won't defend the matter if its all made up by the club to tar Clatters reputation but from what I hear they just forwarded a complaint from the player and released a statement. This complaint was dismissed and Chelsea are now in the wrong.

Don't make me reiterate what I just said. There is no way the media could have found out about that. If the FA didn't know what happened on the pitch, the media couldn't possibly know. They could take guesses, sure, but then they'd be libellous if incorrect. Journalists aren't wizards. I'd know.

Not necessarily wishful thinking but simply based on the fact that they made a serious allegation that was, in the end, false. This could have resulted in the defamation and thus ruination of Clattenburg's career. For all parties involved to not recieve punishment for this is in my opinion unfair but hey, I don't make the rules. Chelsea will deffo have to pay compensation but will it really be enough?

If Chelsea put in a complaint about a referee which included possible racism there is no way it would stay quiet. And why shouldn't we have released a statement? We at that time backed OUR player who is our concern not Clattenburg. I now days support the team not my club as i feel they strongly about certain decisions they make so i am more than willing to slate them when they do stuff wrong, just don't think they did here that's all.

Compo for what? He got full pay while he was suspended so lost out on no earnings.

I couldn't agree more, although it is debateable as to whether the FA could sanction such a penalty on those players themselves. Chelsea could apologise, but I think doing so just confirms that they were in the wrong in the first place and makes them looks like mugs.

Compensation for mental anguish that he undoubtedly suffered from the ordeal, he wasn't exactly happy smiles being accused of being racist was he?

So the best thing was for us to just over look the whole situation and just say "you know what, it probably didn't happen lets not report it as it may ruin him".

I think this comment shows just how little everyone DOESN'T know about. There are hundreds of incidents just like this happening every day. We don't hear about them because, amazingly enough, even if the media gets hold of them (which is hard enough if you want to keep it quiet) there are plenty of ways of preventing them from publishing it.

Where did I say you shouldn't have published a statement? I don't give a **** about your statements. I care that Chelsea football club are taking a callous and immature approach to a serious incident instigated by one of its employees that could have led to an innocent man's life being ruined.

Compensation for mental anguish that he undoubtedly suffered from the ordeal, he wasn't exactly happy smiles being accused of being racist was he?

Not to mention defamation of character.

Not false. Just there wasn't any evidence.

There was literally no solid evidence that did anything wrong. By most standards that's false.

As a side note, remember what I said earlier about a sulky teenager muttering under his breath? Yeah.
