Oh yeah! Guess what? PvA isn't in the Wigan squad and Kakuta is on the bench for Bolton - there's a surprise!

I didn't know CJACKO was managing Newcastle:

"It's a sending off, it's as simple as that. We didn't play great in the first half it is as simple as that."

Sad to see Alex go, always seemed like a great guy and I distinctly remember an article in Chelsea magazine where he said he had found a home here and would like to spend the rest of his career at Chelsea. Sadly, he's a player that's being left behind by our new style through no fault of his own, rather than Drogba, Anelka and Malouda who are old, or Kalou who is just terrible.

Glad to hear that he might go to Juve though, he deserves to be playing with a top team.

I'm sad to see him go too. He's always been one of my favourite players and one of the most consistent, but, sadly he isn't that rock at the back this season, and he's now 29, so it's the right time for him to go imo.

Heard he may also go Corinthians, personally I would like him to go Juventus because I'd like to see him playing CL football (presuming they get into CL which looks likely atm).

A little off topic, but if Corinthians, who currently have Liedson and Adriano up front, and who may be getting Tevez in the summer, get Alex as well... Well, they'll be on par with many a European club in the top 4 leagues, that's for sure. They may even spice up the CWC.

Yes they will have a great squad on paper, whether some will perform or not is another matter (Adriano). But, yeah the Brazilian league is often overlooked by many, but there is a lot of good players in Brazil atm.

as for the players we need to bring in, I say I'd be happy if we get Cahill as JT's partner, beautiful pair that would be.

and a typical creative #10.. someone like Sneijder will perfectly do.

Drogba is being smart, he plays up Marseille but like most footballers he wants to be in the limelight with the biggest wage. Milan have the best chance in January to sign him, they'll offer upwards of £105k, and as long as they pay a fee of £9 million+ I would pack his bags myself.

Milan wont offer Drogba over 100k cos then they'd need to up wages of Robinho, Pato, Thiago Silva all who are better than Drogba and making 80k. Also there's no chance of Milan signing player that old straight away. If he'd go to Milan it would be on loan only to cover for Cassano until he's fit again.

i
nteresting as AVB will really start to make his mark on the club with a much needed clear-out, don't agree with everyone on this list - cech, ivanovic

I don't agree with them too. And it makes me laugh how that article says "Considered too small to be a centre back and not a natural right back" considered by who? Brana is 6 ft 2 and "big built". I remember one of those interviews where they ask questions (like on Soccer AM etc.) and some Chelsea players were interviewed and they asked something like "who's the strongest player you've played against?" and they have said Brana is the strongest player they've ever trained/played with, as have some opponents.

I'd like to get Cahill, but not as JT's partner; I would prefer him as back-up to JT.

Yea, i know. ;p

I doubt that, they need a backup striker to Ibrahimovic and Drogba is very well respected in Italy. If he goes on the market the first clubs knocking at the door would be the 2 Milan clubs. His physical presence and skill would terrify Serie A defences just like Ibrahimovic does.

Milan had Kaka on upwards of £180k a week towards the end, Drogba is thought of higher than Robinho as an attacking option on the continent.

Drogba can't cover Cassano's role anyway, he's not a drop off the front man kind of striker otherwise his partnership with Torres would have worked.

Galliani has made no secret he wants a backup striker to Ibrahimovic, 'competition', in January and if Drogba comes up there's no doubt in my mind they will try and get him.

Yes Kaka was on high wages. Currently Ibra is on those wages ( 9m per year ) and Milan cant afford to pay anyone else those kind of wages. ( Robinho, Pato... 4m per year ) So he'd be offered max that 4m per year which he wont accept when Anzhi is offering him maybe 12m per year. Milan have made strong moves to be competitive and comply with FFP and signing Drogba with over 100k wage for 9m would be insane.

And Galliani is fan of Drogba thats true, but Allegri has the final say on transfers and he has said many times that Milan are not looking for "vice Ibra". Also Galliani said that if someone was signed on january it would be for free loan with option to buy.

Haha epic, i really dont realise i say it so much

Very impressive win today from the lads and its something i didnt expect especially after Franks peno miss. Now on the Luiz-Ba incident should it have been a red card???No corse it shouldnt, why because Ba was offside in the first place so metaphoricly speaking if the officals got all decisions correct on that incident then it would have been a free-kick for Chelsea enough said. I think teams should maybe be abit scared of Chelsea for future refrences, we have another spine growing in the wings currently including Cech, Romeu, Ramires, Mata and Sturridge. Just add a new CB who can join that spine and i think we are very dangerous again. AVB needs time to build his squad and as much as i have loved watching Alex and Nico it is the right time to cash in on the pair of them and bring in some new blood. One thing i will say is that yes he got the first goal and a good one of that but appart from that Drogba was absolutely woeful today. Annonymous in the 1st half and me and my brother noticed in the 2nd half everytime he got the ball he gave it away without fail.

I think the scoreline was a bit flattering tbh. Yes there were some excellent performances by certain players, but Newcastle did hit the woodwork a few times-if those chances were converted would've been a very different outcome. And once Taylor went off that was it.

Oh i totally agree the scoreline was flattering and in the end it was abit smash and grab with the last 2 goals. Newcastle played very well in spells today and like you say hit the woodwork a number of times. If both teams scored all their proper goalscoring opportunities then it would have ended up something like 10-7 in Chelsea's favour so i think we just about deserved the win. Krul was magnificent though and from a netural position if i was a Utd fan they could have saved alot of money if they signed him insted of De Gea (although he has settled of late).

Scoreline flattered us tbh, but I do think Luiz should have been sent-off. Looked pretty stone wall to me, but I had a feeling the ref wouldn't give it XD
