I dont see anything wrong with the squad, Ramires is a yellow card away from a suspension and we need him more Thursday than we do today.

I'm not talking about Ramires. Ramires has a 'bruised leg', or it may be to avoid suspension like you say. I'm disappointed there's no Mikel (not to replace Romeu though) or Torres. Games like today are where we need to make the transition to a 4-2-3-1 formation, and I really do believe that Torres could have got a couple today - Wigan are poor defensively, and I think playing against 3 CBs suits him more than it does Drogba.

But we cant get complacent and just assume Torres is bound to score because its Wigan. Lets make sure we are winning the game and then give him minutes. I agree he needs to start games but at the moment Drogba is playing well and we are winning and the team winning matches is more important than giving Torres minutes.

I see what you mean there, but the thing is - he's not getting more than ten minutes a game! Which, just makes the stats look even worse and then people get on his back, but he can't be expected to start getting goals if he only gets 10 minutes a game.

We cant just assume Torres will score just because its Wigan lol. He has played other poor sides and not scored or even played well lets not forget. With Romeu in the side we only need one DM because he is that good, Lampard will be fresh as he hasen't played much lately and Meireles had a very good game Monday night.

El Nino does not deserve to start people. Drogba does, keep the inform striker in the team and let us see out the game before we make any other decisions.

Nor do i, but at the moment Drogba is playing well and the team getting 3 points is much more important than giving Torres games. He will get his starts when Drogba goes to the African Nations.

Oh I'm not saying Torres has to start, if anything I'm part of the 'pro-Drogba' faction, but I can see the point he's making, this is one of those games where Torres could build his confidence back.

Just read in the Evening Chronicle (local paper) that Chelsea are tempting Newcastle with a cash+swap deal for Newcastles Tiote.
Following says:

"West London sources have informed the Chronicle Tiote is still very much on the Blues' winter wish-list, but United are still not interested in selling the player they plucked from FC Twente last summer. Chelsea will use unsettled stars to try to manoeuvre in the transfer window in January, such as transfer listed CB Alex and and Ivorian duo Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou, while the option of John McEachran on loan as part of any potential deals is also part of Villas-Boas' transfer policy.

A source close to Chelsea said "Tiote is a player everybody at Chelsea admires. There are a number of possibilities on offer, but we will have to see what the mood is when the window opens."

McEachran on loan+ Kalou+ a few million for Tiote would be an incredibly good deal.

If they just want straight cash then no deal.

Pardew has already said it would take a lot of money. I will have to be more than a few million.

Not going to reply to the posts about Torres or Drogba because I did say I wasn't going to go over it again, but surely now you can see why I wanted Torres to start? Drogba has been totally ineffective, and it is clear to see that he does NOT suit the tactics we're playing, or the tactics that Wigan are playing.

Also, not quite sure how ESPN commentators can try and claim that was a pen.

It makes sense when you think about it: you don't need that a holding midfielder if they're not attacking very much and Meireles can tackle when he needs to. Personally I think Lampar+Romeu would have been a bit more balanced but I guess AVB wants to defend by attacking.

A 4-2-3-1 brings Mata into play a lot more and should allow him to break the deadlock with more touches, passes etc. That's really what we were missing in the first half so hopefully he can bring a bit of creativity into play. Could also be a sign that Torres is going to come on, as the 4-2-3-1 suits him a lot better than the 4-3-3.

Kalou to miss a hatful of simple chances then score a completely random goal. Heard it here first. ;)
