That's my point though, he's not an inside forward, he's a wide striker. It sounds like a stupid distinction but it's an important one. A modern inside forward has to be either to pass or cross (ideally both). Sturridge can't do either, he won't move to receive the ball (Mata has 2x as many average passes as Sturridge) and all he wants to do is dribble and score. I don't think he's good enough in the middle to play for us as a starter at the first team level (what he wants) so unless he expands his game, sell him on and buy someone with less of an ego.
The only way i think he could do a job upfront is if he was in a 2 with a big target man striker.
