Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Luiz, Cole, Ramires, Essien, Lampard, Sturridge, Drogba, Mata. Subs: Turnbull, Torres, Mikel, Malouda, Meireles, Kalou, Bertrand.

So much for youth.

Sounds like you just want to hit him with a stick regardless of what he does. And its not about pure youth, its about the younger players, fair few younger players there in Luiz, Ramires, Mata, Sturridge, players there for the next 5-6 years.

Youth does not immediately equal playing 18 year olds. Bertrand is back after being ill and is on the bench.

he gets knocked for not playing the likes of lampard, then gets knocked when he does

Why would he be playing the youth? He's got to keep his eye on the top 4.

Not even young substitutes (Apart from Bertrand and frankly he has no other option) for a game against arguably the worst team in the league. He won't be getting many easier games than this one.

Who would he play on the bench from the youth? The only players that are really suitable, barring maybe Lukaku, are out on loan.

Piazon? Romeu (Unless he's injured and I'm unaware of it)?

Romeu has a knock apparently ( though not sure how accurate that is), so that leaves Piazon who is still playing for the reserves, since he has only played 5 games for them.

And Piazon played two days ago for our youth team.

I'd easily put Piazon over Kalou or Malouda.

Romeu plays the holding role and he has 2 holding players on the bench already. (edit: And as Mike has said, he has a knock) Piazon isn't good enough for the first team atm imo whilst Malouda (as much as I dislike him) does have a good rapport with Drogba.

Piazon still looked very raw on the one reserve game highlights i saw. talented, but raw.

Well, unless you guys found a way to put 8 subs on the bench it's pretty obvious he'd have to take one of those off :P

Malouda has been **** for what, a year? Good rapport or not, IMO he's expendable. Piazon may not be good enough for a starting berth, we can all agree on that, but this is probably the easiest game you'll get from here on, it would've been a great chance to give him a few minutes off the bench.

Piazon probably wont play at all this season. They will be doing a lot of work with him in the reserves, much like we did with the twins.

For some reasons I like watching Luiz play. He has got fantastic ability with the ball and he has got super confidence to pull off some passes and moves.

Not sure what you mean, since they played a few games in their first season IIRC.

90 minutes of reserve/youth football for an 18 year old, is much better for his development at this stage and a 5 minute prem runout.

Malouda is better than Piazon at the moment, especially if we're playing Drogba. Piazon has lots of potential but AVB is stuck in the catch 22 of being a Chelsea manager: he has to rejuvenate the squad but he also has to keep the results up at the same time. Unfortunately for him, his predecessors have been so bad at doing this that he can't even rely on his senior squad to get fairly simple results at full strength, let alone with a couple of youngsters.

Its not just his predecessors fault tbh, its Roman fault for firing so many managers for not winning trophies. Managers had no choice but to play the old players to win trophies.

Now that AVB is selected to do this task, he is under immense pressure and like you said he is stuck in catch 22.

Ancelotti made a fair point this week saying AVB tried to change too quickly, should have done gradually. (Saying that I have no idea what Roman's expectations were).

They joined Jan 08. They played a ton of reserve games/youth games, and were still playing a ton of reserve games. from what ive seen of Piazon, playing 5 minutes isnt as beneficial right now as 90 minutes youth development, unless he suddenly spikes, I cant see him making an appearance this season.

AVB is learning at the same time, so he will be making mistakes as we've seen. Normally it would probably not be such a big problem, but Chelsea are at a point where there is no room for mistakes, on anyone's part and its costing them.

What? That was not a technical decision whatsoever. They played reserve/youth games because they were not allowed to play for the first team until they were 18. Brazilian players (And from many other countries) can't move on international transfers until the age of 18 (Something easily checked in FM), and while they were allowed to 'move' to Manchester they were not allowed to play competitive games until they were 18.
