Being an active player and the captain already solves the parts about knowledge and respect of the players, no? Terry doesn't strike me as kind of guy who would spend summer evenings studying classic games and old tactical manuals, and i'm propably not alone in this. But then it might just be the media face.

They should propably make him playing-assistant-manager , since thats what he seems to be unofficialy doing anyway. There's no reason to have someone else doing that job when JT could use it to learn.

I'd start him with the reserves and youth first, allow him to really learn the job, tactical thinking and proper coaching, get his badges too, them onto the senior team. No rush.

I dont get why all this talk about Terry being a manager all of a sudden. The lad still has 3-4 seasons left at the top before he may possibly want to head off to the Middle East or China for one last payday. Then he may want to take some time off the game as well.

But I agree with Mike. He needs to work with the Youth and Reserves before trying his hand at managing in the Lower League's and if he does a good job there only then should he be given the chance to manage Chelsea. Although personally speaking I would prefer Terry remains a coach with us after he retires. He does not strike me as someone who as Tyton mentioned would spend his summers studying tactics

Champions league for the Youth team basically. We were in it this year. Got spanked by Ajax in the semi, 4-0, even though we played better.

No shame in that considering Ajax probably have one of the best Youth Academies in the world. Second only to Barcelona's in my opinion.

Also FA Youth Cup Semi-Final vs Manchester United tonight at Old Trafford. Probably the biggest match in FA Youth Cup considering how successfull our respective Youth Teams have been in this competition in recent years

the ajax academy is something special the amount of quality players it has produced is amazing, the barcelona academy was built around it yet has surpassed it in recent years. Its something i hope we are building towards or are looking into atleast.

So benfica in the quarters and either Milan or Barca in the semis it is. If we progress to the semis it will be very tough and being away in the second leg makes it no easier.

I think Chelsea will win this time. Our academy players are full of first year graduates and many are surprised to see us making it till Semi finals. Chelsea have got good team so I think Chelsea will win this tie.

Chelsea got a decent draw against Benfica. I think APOEL are worth a £1 bet to win the CL considering it's 150/1 ;)

Tbf, we did absolutely terrible in the U19 Champions League thing. England's youth development is so far behind the likes of Holland, Portugal and Spain's, to name but a few.

Think we can win against Benefica. They got a pair of good wingers in Gaitan and Nolito who will certainly cause our full-backs problems but their defence is not the best. Also Oscar Cardozo may be very good in the air but is not someone who can cause defences problems with his pace.

All in all, confident that we can progress from this tie. We are away in the first leg so it gives us a good chance to nick a away goal and put pressure on Benefica when they come to the Bridge.

It will still be a very close match in my opinion. Last year we beat you 3-2 at the Bridge before you spanked us 4-0 at Old Trafford so we dont exactly have fond memories of that place. If Feruz and Piazon turn up today then we have a good chance because our play is centered around those two.

Agree with you completely there although Ajax have become more of a selling club these days which is incredibly sad considering what a great European club they once were.

I do not think we are going to build an academy in the mould of Ajax or Barcelona to be honest. Right now our Youth Policy seems to be more along the lines of stockpiling Youth Talent and seeing which of them turns out good while discarding the rest. If we want to build an academy like Barcelona's or Ajax then we must have a stable manager for starters.

This managerial merry go-round is really hurting the Youth development process as well.

150/1? Not bad.

Stranger things have happened!

semis as far as we can go. Barca.. I just hope they dont demolish us. Well, at least we will see an el classico final.

I'd rather see a classic in the semi-finals, that way they get to play each other twice.

Piazon does brilliantly to set up Amin Affane for a goal. Chelsea currently leading 1-0 at OT and playing very well.

Trust me, the Youth are way more fun to watch than the Senior Squad.

Enjoying this match. Couple of well taken goals. Though to be fair, there's some very good performances from both sides. Nice to see youngsters being given the freedom to express themselves and play their natural game. Thoroughly enjoyable

1-2 final score. Much deserved win. Really we should have scored more, but we didn't do enough in front of goal. Feruz was, once again, great. Piazón, Aké, Chalobah, and Davey were also very good. Piazón drifted in and out of the game unfortunately though, but when he got involved, he was very good (esp. Aké). Some of the football we played was lovely, shame we couldn't maintain it throughout all of the game, there were two main spells where we let Utd get into the game.

Is Feruz going to be our first teamer soon? :) The lad looks amazing on the pitch.

Tonight was the first time I've seen him. Lads brimming with quality at his age and is without doubt going to have bags of potential. Glad I saw the match tonight
