Yes, and every professional player spends half his life being conditioned not to do that. But easier said then done when ball flying at 90 mph was kicked right into your face. Its a natural human instinct to protect yourself. Could player attempt to mimick that instinct to fool referee? Possibly. But not like this, from point blank range. At the very least he could have given free kick from penalty area instead.
Don't get me wrong, i think anyone who saw the game couldnt honestly say Chelsea was better side, City was consistently pushing forward most of the game and propably deserved the win, but that wasn't a penalty.
Fundamentally if we want to play a 4-3-3... we need a creator/passer/destoyer axis in the centre of the midifield and that is what we have missed all this time. We have passers in the likes of Romeu and to a lesser extent Mikel. We have destroyers in players like Essien. But what we really need is a creator.
Lampard is more like a striker from the midfield. Nothing wrong with that although he really upset the balance of our midfield in AVB's tactics and he was bench accordingly. Think we really needed some like Luka Modric. Our team would have improved leaps and bounds by having a player like him making us play

I agree that we need a passer (that gives us the flexibility of playing 4-2-3-1 also) and I agree that it but it all depends on how much we're going to spend. The priority is a right back and either a left winger or a creator. (I'd go for a creator as it'll let us play both formations:if we get a winger, Mata would have to play in CM in the 4-3-3) We also have to work with the fact that Ramires is a good player and he should probably be in that lineup somewhere, especially when we don't have the financial freedom to go around replacing every member of the squad.

How can you criticise that performance from Chelsea? I thought it was a good formation RDM tried and it worked well, all the players gave it their all they were looking like getting the 3 pts relatively comfortably until the penalty, then it all changed. I thought David Luiz had his best game in a Chelsea shirt, people can not doubt his defending after that performance. Also thought Mata and Torres looked pretty decent, I thought Chelsea deserved a draw at least.
Funny how many City fans have gone from saying "never want to see him in a City shirt again" too "welcome him back with open arms". Funny old game innit?

Thought this too, i thought we should have took it too them.
I think defensivly we played very very well but the midfield was very sloppy and when we did get the ball in the final third we had no one up there.
It's an absolute joke, we all know fans are a fickle bunch but this is shocking behaviour by City in general.
I can see why you may think this as it was struck very hard and was very close but he ran the risk having his hands up in the air.
Performance today was shockingly bad from us but totally agree about Cahill, the man was sensational and is proving all the doubters wrong.
He has certainly upped his game. He was poor at Bolton, and that wasnt down to his teammates, individually he was poor as well, but he has really improved. Wasn't sure if he could up it, but he has proved my wrong, which only bodes well for England.
I also think he has proven a lot of people wrong about his lack of pace, i personly think he is pretty quick for an English centre back.
He's not. The likes of Smalling, Jones, King, Ferdinand, Jagielka and so on and so forth are quick English centre-backs.
What Cahill is, however, is intelligent enough to position himself in such a way that his pace doesn't become an issue. Moreover, the thing that people like Mike. and I were sceptical about when he moved to Chelsea - his ability (or lack of it) to play in a high defensive line - isn't such an issue due to Bobby Di Matteo's deeper line. As such, he's been doing what he's best at, covering behind an aggressive attacker, bringing the ball out of defence, and getting to second balls in order to clear. That last, incidentally, he is ridiculously good at, one of if not the best in the Prem. Great reactions.
Yet on Fm he is a fairly quick centre back. I haven't watched him much at Chelsea yet but I don't seem to remember him getting 'burnt' for speed by a quick forward. Still think he's a way down tge pecking order for England but encouraging to here he is upping his game
