I think if we learn't anything tonight its that Ferreira, Romeu, Essien, Malouda, Sturridge and Torres should all not start in Munich.

I think we've learnt that we didn't care about that game (a shame) and that a big win against a relegated Blackburn side is needed going into the final.

I love Robbie and the work he has done but there is something that is holding me back about supporting him to get the job full time. In the league against our major rivals Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle, Man City and Liverpool we have gained 2 points out of a possible 15. Not good enough at all, yes the cup results have been sensational and just out of this world but it is just papering over the cracks. This side still needs a overhaul and i am not sure Robbie is the man to do that.

Carl this is exactly what i was saying a few weeks back and getting a bit shouted down, dont let the cups fool you. Its the same for us, neck and neck with City, but doesnt change the fact we need to deal with our midfield. Its also what that article was pointing. Yes you may still win the CL, but you are still overall ( and i do note that there are rising starts at the club) on the decline with some key players. He did most of what was asked in the short term, ow he has to demonstrate over the summer he has plans for the long term.

I agree with you Mike. but you cant let the future cloud your vision. You have to perform in the present as well because what we do today will impact us tommorow. Yes Bobby D has done an excellent job and the players back him and all so I'd say why not give him the reins. I certainly dont want another season where we bring in a manager only for him to get sacked and delay us by another season. Thats why I want either Mourinho or Robbie because at least you know that they will command loyalty from the players

Although there are key players in the team who are on the decline, the situation is not as bad you think Mike. Most of our squad is still in their 20s and the key players for us this season have been the likes of Ramires, Juan Mata etc. who are young guns. So its not like we are fully reliant on the likes of Drogba

I do agree that the squad needs new players but I think Robbie Di Matteo can do that job. The vision at the club has not changed despite AVBs sacking which we can see with the likes of Marin coming in

You cant really blame Di Matteo. The squad has undergone a punishing fixture list which has stretched us thin and yet we have pulled off some amazing results vs Liverpool/Barcelona despite both those teams have more rest than us. **** we were written off against Barcelona yet we produced a sterling performance

Plus its not like if we had won the game we would surely be in the top 4, we would still be relying on Everton and Fulham to pick points against Tottenham/Newcastle and considering the fact that both Everton and Fulham have nothing to play for, that would have been unlikely.

All eggs are now on the Munich game. Bayern will be the ones under pressure to win and hopefully we can use that to our advantage

Alaba and Gustavo used to be rotation players some time ago. So practically Bayern Munich will have its original starting 11 minus Badstuber.

So did Barcelona and yet we beat them. Thats the beauty of the CL finals. Any team can win as long as they turn up on that day and play well for 90 minutes no matter how firmly the odds are stacked against them

Chelsea, more than any club need to be looking at the future. Giving him the reins simply because the players like him is a hiding to nothing, because he will be shifting on a lot of those players. You need to get away from that fact.

I'm not clouded, however i'd argue that you were. The present is done, there are two games left. You're not getting Mourinho anyway, so you need a manager who can plan for the next 3 years, not just because the players might like him.

Having to select a manager that 'commands loyalty' says much more about the players than the manager. Loyalty shouldn't have anything to do with it; it should be about professionalism. If the players aren't professional enough to accept a rotational role instead of a starting one as they move into their twilight years as footballers, they really need an attitude adjustment.

Yeah, but you don't have Ramires. You're screwed. :P

I agree with you but due to them present situation at Chelsea, its hard for any manager to stay. I prefer having RDM in-charge for 3 more seasons rather than having someone like Unai Emery in-charge for half a season.

Plus you act as if RDM is not someone who can take the club forward, that may not be the case and we have no evidence whatsoever that he cant do the job. He deserves a chance after what he has done this season ... Its a gamble but so was AVB

Then the situation has to change.

What has he done? league wise, he has picked up less points per game than AVB. The only thing he has given is the cup runs.

So he has to demonstrate that he has more to him than the love of the players, if he does then keep him. If not, then get a better manager. And Emery is certainly a better manager than Di matteo.

We still have the brilliant and sublime skills of Kalou :p

Good point. (;

I heard he was going back to Feyenoord with Kuyt at the end of his contract, gunna miss him if he does go?

That was because he was forced to go through a gruelling fixture list with a very thin squad. Very harsh to judge him considering the circumstances in which he was brought in. Even then he has overachieved. A win vs Barcelona. A fantastic turn-around against Napoli. An FA Cup trophy.

Yes Emery is a better manager than Di Matteo no question about it but would he even want to come to Chelsea. Probably not. Would he be welcomed by the players... probably not. Unless we are willing to get rid of the senior players this summer, I'd say take the gamble on Di Matteo or if we are willing then enter Unai Emery etc.
