We should really make a move for Llorente this January. Bilbao won't want to lose him for free in the summer so we can get him at a low price. Also this way we eliminate most of the competition for his signature

Not really.. Clubs can come in at January and offer him a contract regardless of whether Bilbao accept a transfer or not.

Really? Not sure about that but it's great if clubs can. All the more we should go for him. Him and Moutinho in January would make me very happy

Yeah, because Drogba was good.

Both sides of the argument have a point here. Torres shouldn't be vilified for costing a lot, and he does contribute to the team; but he cannot finish for the life of him.

Well, when Roman paid that 50mil. he was expecting to bring that goal machine that Torres used to be at Liverpool. Exactly what Tyton said. That's why he overpaid, because Torres used to be that kind of striker, the complete striker, that every club in the world would want. When he arrived, his finishing was gone. We gave him time, but we need a goal machine now, crucial goals etc. A striker who can win us titles.

The other day, someone said (cant remember who): "Buying Torres' services is one thing, but you can't make him love your club the way he loves/loved Liverpool."

Depends how you define burdening. He's not doing a bad job, necessarily, but he's only not doing a bad job at the stuff Chelsea don't need him to do. He's doing a pretty pathetic job at the thing they need him to do most: score.

Couldn't say it any better really. Sums it up.

That would be perfect. Moutinho + Mikel/Ramires. Cool stuff.

We can all agree though that Torres is the complete opposite of Sturridge - He passes when he must shoot. And no, I don't want us to have Sturridge as our main striker. Give him a few starts - sure. But that's it.

How is that fair? Torres is given umpteen chances. We even don't buy a striker this summer so that he can be our undisputed main striker and get a good run of games which will hopefully help him rediscover himself. This is how much faith the club has put in him and he is still a massive failure. No wonder Chelsea fans were booing him yesterday..Enough is enough

Sturridge deserves a run of games. Don't stereotype him. He was fantastic last season under AVB and playing in a position where he is given the liberty to shoot whenever he wants may bring out the best in him.

You know how I feel about Sturridge. Sorry, but it is unacceptable. When you have an unmarked team mate, in a clear position, you simply pass the ****** ball. You don't shoot everytime you get the ball.

Come on. Lad was only 21/22. First time playing in an unfamiliar position out wide and yet he scored so many goals for us.

I don't understand Chelsea fans at times- They castigate the likes of Kalou and Sturridge who have done well for us yet defend people like Torres who have done absolutely nothing. Yes I am guilty of it too

Any outsider coming on the thread might have thought Chelsea got spanked 4-0 or something. We actually played ****** well against Liverpool.

I thought Azpilicueta was a boss. Very good defensively

you did play very well.. although Azpilicueta looked good it was against Jose Enrique.. very good defensively most the time but attacking wise he is abit clueless ..

The day Chelsea sign Falcao is the day I get worried the Premier League might be not coming to Manchester. The reason being I do not consider Chelsea a major concern at the moment (despite a good start) is because last season when you went through a wobble you struggled to get out of it and by the time you did it was pretty much all over for your title ambitions. The main reason though is because Torres and Sturridge as strikers will not win you the league, Torres is merely a shadow of the Liverpool player.

However with Falcao I would be very worried about Chelsea :(

Sturridge is a striker and as a striker he wants to shoot and score as much as possible. It is not his fault he was being played out of position in a position where you are expected to pass more and look for the man up top. If he could score what 14-15 goals last season at rw how many could he score upfront? He has the confidence aswell.

No no no no, don't be silly. That isn't the way to argue with Mike. Giving him short questions is too simple. Give him paragraphs and, like the average battle-weakened pokemon, he hurts himself in his confusion. ;)

But in answer to your question, no. Not that that's necessarily indicative of him performing poorly, mind (I hasten to add before Mike. does) and it isn't really what we're discussing. We're discussing whether he's still effective, not whether he's the monster he was in the past; there's very little debate to be had about that.

Cheeky sod.

Llorente wouldnt be cheap. Free, yes. But not cheap. Would command big wages and a massive signing on fee.

The amount of wages Torres, Cole and Lampard would free up... We can easily get Llorente and Moutinho.
