If Roman thinks he's justified by sacking all of these managers (which he isn't; he's a moron), surely he must be thinking the players are at fault too by now? Chelsea is one of the few clubs where experienced players (Terry, Lampard) are allowed to dictate. This season you could probably put every draw/loss down to terrible defending by David Luiz, or terrible finishing by Torres - two players that are not dropped often enough, and probably thanks to Abramovich interfering.

I don't even think Fergie or Mourinho could motivate/improve those two ******* hopeless clowns. If Abramovich didn't demand 'sexy football players' such as Eden Hazard, maybe the manager(s) could focus on buying proper defenders. It won't be long before Terry and Cole retire too, and then you have nothing.

Thought I would let everyone have their say first but lets be honest are we that shocked? It was obvious with the time it took Roman and the board to give Robbie the job in the summer that he was not their main man, and I suspect they had someone else lined up but knew the backlash they would get if they didn't give him a chance. I believe the brilliant start to the season has forced Roman and the board to believe that the team was already where he wanted them to be but I always had my doubts. So the board think we are there and then some bad results come and we look poor again so they believe its time for a change in manager because that is what has worked for the club in the past. Sad thing is there is NO way we will complete this transition with short term commitments.

It's quite clear Guardiola is the man Roman wants but if he stands by his word and has a year out then the next manager will just be a temp so you can rule out Benitez and Redknapp (thank **** as i hate both of them with a passion). I can take it when the club are the most hated around that doesn't bother me but when we are a laughing stock that is when it hurts me.

I hope the fans sing Robbies name loud and proud on Sunday and as frustrating as it is supporting this football club at times i'll be glued to the TV again Sunday filling myself with hope like i do week in week out. CTID

To keep it sweet, stinks. Absolutely stinks. Yeah it's Romans cash but ****** ****. The club was entering a transitional phase, Torres is off key, Luiz isn't playing well. Got the CL. There's no Terry right now, there's Torres not scoring, there's something wrong at the club and it's not all down to RDM. If Roman wants the club to go through the transitional period, this is not the way to go about it. Should've waited until the end of the season. This is going to affect the players and will be interesting to see the aftermath of this.

I'm sure that this won't go down well with many people, but I was far more annoyed by the AVB sacking. I think Robbie should have been given to the end of the season, or at least until we had gone out of the CL but I don't think he was the right man for the job.

What did he actually do that showed he could take us forward in the future? He brought Bertrand into the first team and that's about it. The state of the squad now is a bit of a shambles tbqh. Our midfield 2 just fundamentally does not work, especially against higher level opposition. We bought 4 attacking midfielders and we have **** all on either side of them.

I'm not denying that Robbie did a great job motivating a bunch of old legends and new arrivals to gel and give a heroic last gasp show in the CL, but those are not the same qualities that we need now. We need somehow who knows how to bring the club forward and change our style. We need someone with a real grasp of tactics and shape and knows how to get that across to the players. What has Robbie done to suggest that is him? Name a single moment where he has made a gamechanging decision. It just hasn't happened. When we needed to play a rigid, functional counter attacking game, he was great. The second we switched to attack this season, it all fell apart and the side lost all semblance of balance and shape. If we could work out that this was going to happen before the season even started, he should have been able to as well.

This isn't a case of being impatient: we all know that the club is in transition. The problem is that there are very few indications that Robbie is actually capable of getting us where we want to be. For me, that decision to play that formation last night was a pretty strong sign of naivety and a lack of understanding. I believed I outlined why playing a strikerless formation was not a real option for us in a summer post, and everything I said came true. To play such a complex system when the team is low on morale, has been on a run of poor finishing (including the AMs he expected to score), has really struggled to maintain its shape and vs Juve's formation was close to suicidal.

Shouldnt have got rid of Essien...

Or Meireles. I don't understand how a great manager (which is what we're after) could possibly look at our squad sheet and not see a ******* massive problem. I'm still convinced that Mikel has something to offer the club, but it should have been obvious that he was going to get ****** without a proper holder or a regista type player. Ramires, for all his effort, lacks the discipline to play beside him.

Rafa will be a brilliant appointment IMO..

Look at his achievements at LFC, didn't have the resources like top clubs yet got us constant top 4, 2nd one year, CL winners

add the fact he may be the perfect man for Torres I can't see why Chelsea would not want him.

Because that!!!

There is no perfect man for Torres, he's crocked imo. I can't believe that playing for Benitez would magically transform back into what he was. He's lost what makes a forward a forward: that longing for the ball. If anything, he's afraid of it now.

I wouldn't mind Benitez as a caretaker though, even if he is a fat spanish waiter XD.

Then he went to Inter and was really really *****.

Why does Roman think that we will play exactly like Barca did under Pep? Does Roman really expect that? I'm not sure Pep is the man either. I'm not sure who is anymore. I agree with Subtle though, RDM wasn't the right man and it was only a matter of time.

Because that!!!

what because he was very successful with an average team, who compared to the big spenders managed to keep up?

not to mention he won La Liga and challenged with a Valencia side who still were not favourites with Barca and Madrid about

makes sense

Then he went to Inter and was really really *****.

new country, massive over expectations because Mourinho had just been there

I honestly don't believe the club would go ahead with this sacking without a man already lined up. What I am worried about is whether Benitez/Redknap are really better than RDM in the short-term? This move only makes sense if Pep has agreed to shorten his holiday and join which is very unlikely

And Chelsea have just won the CL.. so even more massive over expectations.

but Chelsea have a youthful team who have a bright future, Inter were always going to come down from Mourinho, look where they are now

With Benitez CV im amazed people dont want him as Chelsea Boss

Chelsea fans hate him for his time at Liverpool and he said some bad things about us (which i don't hold against him because if he praised us it would have been wrong having being manager of a rival). If i had a choice between Rafa or Redknapp i'd chose Rafa but for me it's like choosing whether i'd like to have *** with Jody Marsh or Will Young, yes one is female but is more manly than the other. Both would be a unpleasent experience.

I don't mind Benitez. I just don't feel replacing RDM with Benitez makes much sense tbh.

Pep would be a brilliant addition on paper.

My bet in the manager issue goes to John Terry as Player manager.
