I totally understand players have played monumental amount of games for us but i don't think he has rotated properly for the valid reasons i just gave. He had a fully fit Demba Ba to play in between them games i mentioned but he played a total of 0 minutes in a week when Torres played 270 minutes. You don't need sports science to tell you that Torres needed a rest, this is what i mean when i say he contradicts himself. He has changed formation once during a game this season and it worked! So why not do it on more occasions?

Because Demba Ba has dodgy as **** knees?

See, this is just one example of what I'm saying. Everyone seems to have forgotten that Ba has a chronic knee condition, but for all we know the Chelsea medical team have him on a strict regime of games and training. Like I said, I don't know this, but it's just one example of why we shouldn't just wildly speculate and then blame Rafa. Like I said, I don't want to speculate past basic fact because we know pretty much absolutely ******* nothing about the inner workings of the club and why managers do things they do.

Because - and we've been over this many, many times before - 4-2-3-1 is inarguably Chelsea's best-fitting formation. What's the point in just changing formations for the sake of it? Tactical flexibility is great, but there's no point changing it if it works just fine as is.

Demba Ba played most games for Newcastle and he had no problems.

As far as we know.

As I said though, that was just an example. There's a whole host of potential other reasons. Perhaps Rafa wants Torres to build more momentum after his last start against Basel yielded a great performance? Perhaps Ba's hamster died and he needed the day off to mourn it? I'm being facetious, but my point is it could be anything.

That aside, I don't think two full matches is such a bad thing. He played the full 90 vs Basel, got about 10 minutes against United, and another full match against Spurs. Over the course of the week, Torres played 190ish minutes to Ba's 90, which I don't think is entirely unreasonable really, especially when you consider Ba had been doing well in cup matches but pretty badly in the Prem.

Someone remembers the recent past at last!

Not 3 games a week for half a season though.

He wouldn't be able to play 3 games a week because he cannot play Europa League, what i was saying is he has gone 10 days without playing and in that time we had 2 Europa League games and one league game. If Rafa used players properly then he would have played Ba in the league game in between the Europa League games.

I vaguely recall a while back, you were claiming rotation is not neccesary and players should be playing 3 times a week with no exception. Now suddenly you want even more rotation then Rafa does? Are you sure you didn't catch spanish-flu?

Seriously though, Benitez has his system. From little that we know its heavily based on sports science , information from fitness and mecial teams, and each player has his invididual cycle based on test results. So basically, its a lot of information that we don't have.

And if his system didn't work you'd be scraping for 6th place vs. Liverpool by now, as even those of us who like Rafa expected based on the sheer amount of games your thin squad has to play. I still can't wrap my head around how Chelsea havent fallen apart, can still get serious trophy and 3rd place, with top players playing nearly 60 games.

Oh and Demba already has 20 games in blue shirt, and thats what, wirhin 3 months, excluding when he had a broken nose? That's actually quite a lot.

I think if you look closely i was saying Rafa contradicts himself by NOT rotating as well as believes/says he does, nothing at all about how much i think they should/shouldn't be rotated.

Whenever anyone says Sport Science, all I see in my head is this. Mike Bassett: England Manager (2001) full movie - YouTube

On the rotation issue, Benitez follows a sensible rotation policy, he just makes ****** decisions about when to rest certain players and when to sub the,

And that is what stands out in games, subs are one of the little things that a manager has to change a game in his favor and Rafa wastes it time and time again.

He could do them more proactively, but most of the time you have **** all on your bench. In fact when it comes to options your bench is remarkably poor. Something that was stated at the start of the season

Gets **** for not bringing someone on, then gets **** for bringing on who he did.

And i have always agreed with that, but it doesn't help when he makes the wrong calls. Like you said our options are poor on the bench so you have to get them right and he doesn't.

3rd, and in an EL final after playing nearly 70 games. He's got it right far more than he's got it wrong. At best you probably should should have 6 more points than you have currently
