I've said it many times to people before but Luiz just isn't cut out to play CB with his mentality the way it is.
He's prone to roam around a little, enjoys going forward but he does switch off and lose his head at times. Admittedly he does have some very good games but consistency is a huge part of being a great CB.

I think he would be good as a midfielder due to his attributes, Cahill and Terry would be a much more solid pairing in defence though.

And he has been consistent this season if you've watched him. Infact, all of our defenders have been good except for A.Cole

It's only a few games into the season, though, so it doesn't mean much - he's generally been an inconsistent defender in previous seasons.

David Luiz is a fantastic defender prone to the odd mistake. It's just that if he mucks up, his mistake gets magnified more than most because well ... He is David Luiz. People ignore the fact that other than when he initially arrived, he has been generally solid in most of his games. No one makes much of a fuss when Terry or Cahill **** up, the frequency of which is pretty similar to that of Luiz ******* up. A bit like the De Gea vs Hart debate really with De Gea being Luiz and Hart being Terry/Cahill

Because Terry's **** ups are usually because he seems to like to play with lube on his studs. Luiz's are usually caused from him being about 50 yards out of position or trying to Messi his way out of defence, which are infinitely more stupid/hilarious.

Lol agreed although both result in goals for the opposing side so it's unfair to harshly criticize one and turn a complete blind eye to the other

Brilliantly put!

So let me get this straight, Chelsea's defense is build out of very likeable characters of a) Cashole and b) captain, leader, legend, racist, squad mate wife *******, full-kit-******. And yet...people just choose to hate on Luiz instead? I think you got that backwards.

Literally everyone I know loves the guy , his attidude and his playing style. Its just that, well, he IS error prone, and that's it. I would much prefer to hate on Jay-T instead, but somehow the opportunities don't occur as often. Perhaps because he's a defender that is actually defending.

The only people who would have a decent reason to hate Luiz would be United fans (due to his dive last season), but I agree - he's a likeable character, he's just far too error-prone and has a tad too much flair to be a solid centre-back.

Thanks to traffic in Guildford I missed the first 10-15 mins of the game so turn up 1-0 down thinking "what the **** has happened here". I'll start with massive criticism for the Cardiff players for wasting so much time at 0-1 and 1-1, they got what they deserved in the end. And as much criticism aimed towards the ref Anthony Taylor was absolutely shocking!

On to the positives I thought JT, Bertrand, Willian, Hazard and Eto'o were outstanding today, great to be there to see Eto'o open his account. The massive positive was yet again Jose making that change which turned the game, 4 points gained from bringing off a left back and replacing with a striker this season. Very simple but a massively bold sub and shows just how excellent he is!

Been looking at some match stats from yesterday's game as i do and here are some of my favs.

Fouls Committed: Luiz (4), more than anyone else.

Aerial Duels successful/attempted: Terry (3/3), best average.

Clearances successful/attempted: Terry (11/11), better than anyone else.

Tackles successful/attempted: Eto'o (4/4), best average (defending from the front).

Attacking 3rd passes successful/attempted: Bertrand (22/23), better than anyone else. Refreshing to see that from a fullback, shows his desire to get forward.

Passes successful/attempted: Terry (82/84) giving him a staggering 98% pass completion ratio! Sensational!!!!

There is no doubt that JT has been revitalized since Jose's return.

Or maybe all those cases where he deserved to be sent off and he wasnt? I recall two of them: the one against Rooney, and the one against Basel (he scored the free kick winner in the last minute).

It's ridiculous to defend him. His job is to defend and to defend well. His job is not to, as Joel rightly pointed out, be a Messi and do all that flashy stuff. He cannot be trusted. It's ridiculous to compare him to Terry. One is a pure defender, the other is not.

Luiz has been a lot better this season actually until yesterday. I missed Cardiff's goal and never got to see it until i got home on MOTD but even i left the ground thinking "Luiz had a shocker today" without knowing he was at fault for the goal. I fully suspect Cahill to come back in this week but Luiz has this season to work under Jose and prove he can play consistently without making mistakes.

I'm fairly sure every time he's played United he's either cost you a goal, or committed about 50 yellow card offences without being sent off

A massive overreaction as expected. In for another year of pundits claiming he's a liability no matter how well he plays, and the worst thing is people will actually believe them.

How is it overreaction? Elaborate.
And **** pundits, no one gives a **** about their opinions.
