Terrible move, it made no sense to do it at the time either.

Sure Chelsea fans won't agree but it smacked of buying for buying's sake to stop him going anywhere else.

Thought that at the time and nothing has changed that opinion how it's played out.

Willian made sense as an opportunistic move. This never did.

No you refused to engage with Carl specifically as well resorting back to the old 'I am right and I won't discuss this with you unless you at all'. Also since you are resorting to ad hominem attacks, if you don't like the way I post then ban me. If you continue to implicitly condone my membership of this forum by letting me post then it's only common courtesy to engage in a discussion which you after all started on a thread you know I patronize frequently and post often in. Otherwise make it clear that you shouldn't have started the discussion and stirred the pot with a issue you quite clearly hold dear to your heart

Instead what you seem to have done is arrogant and patronizing in the extreme. Start a discussion. Refuse to respond to any points by simply saying that you won't discuss it with anyone who doesn't share your view. Then when pushed, you start ad hominem attacks. As I mentioned, if you hold others to high standards such as you when you had a go at Scouse for being patronizing on the United thread, then make sure you yourself adhere to them at the very least. Otherwise stop uplifting yourself and being all 'oh I only respond to posts made by these people because we are exclusive shizzz'

The reason he doesn't ban you is probably because he just doesn't like you, it's as simple as that. Just because he's a mod doesn't mean he's going to ban everyone he doesn't like.

In which case he shouldn't start a discussion on a thread he knows I patronize and then refuse to hear any response. It's the equivalent of me going to your house, saying something and then shutting my ears without wanting to hear any response

In any case, it wasn't just me. From the outset, it looked like he completely brushed aside the views of 3 Chelsea fans despite starting the topic on the Chelsea thread. Reeks of the notion that one is only interested in saying their piece and not hearing anything else

Big difference between going to someones house and posting on a forum.

I think what he's done is probably the best thing to do.

Me and Scouseinthehouse had a big disagreement on the Liverpool thread which ran around in circles, when he chose to ignore my reply it just got brushed over and there is no problem there now,

I've got respect for that

Good for you if you got respect for that. I personally don't have respect when someone starts a discussion and then ignores every reply thrown his way. If I called Van Gaal a sexist on the United thread and refused to reply anyone, he would have made a huge fuss. Also our discussion didn't run around in circles because he ignored from the first response onwards. I can still understanding he engaged and we found ourselves locked in a argument going nowhere

Anyways if you want to continue this discussion, more than happy to do it over PM to avoid thread going off-topic. Thanks

Feelings mutual man. As regards ourselves, there's no problem/ ill feeling there at all. As you pertinently noted, we were just going around in circles so it was futile to carry on. Best when to know when to walk away.

**** happens. On an ambiguous message board, things can get heated real quickly and taken out of the context they were intended. Disagreements are the nature of the beast. But as soon as the screens shut down it's forgotten about as regards myself.

No harm no foul and we're good. (Although JC at the blue *****?! SERIOUSLY! ;). :P.).

The best thing I can say about that is that I didn't even have to intervene. You two simply put it away and moved on.

Aye thought it was fantastic myself. Two people willingly engage in a discussion and respecfully hear the others views before ending it amicably before it got ugly

Hahaha it haunts me to this day that I did that. Sometime sleepless nights, JC shouldn't have gone to Everton...

:P

Yeah you read things in a tone on a thread, which can be whatever tone you first see at the time, can be misleading!

I can apologise for mine!

We've agreed more than disagreed on things, that's life of a football fan!

I'd suggest you ignore each others posts for a week or two and see where you go from there :P

FYI Lewis Baker and Izzy Brown both start for Vitesse against Southampton in the Europa League tonight. Danilo Pantic is amongst the Vitesse subs, but Nathan misses out having been absent for over a week sorting his work permit.

Precisely, but unfortunately there seems to be a lack of good football journalists at the moment. I wouldn't say our rivals have hit their targets so far though, the only team that have is United. City have quality but overall I still believe it's a poor squad and Arsenal, although they seem to have sorted out the goalkeeping problem there's still a few positions that need strengthening IMO. I think we'll get Stones and a new LB eventually, but I can't see anyone else joining.

You're chasing Telles, but Chelsea usually do their business very early, and it simply hasn't happened. In the last decade Jose has usually kept his most aggressive comments to times when he feels a situation is getting away from him. EVerton are making your very hard for Stone, Griezmann seems to be a dead deal, and Baba has gone quiet. These are the kind of key deals that would have been done 4 weeks ago. As you say not many journalists adept enough to look beyond the surface rhetoric anymore, even though he has an obvious methodology

Buying potential for sure, buts that's steep atm for him.

I think it all comes down to your perception of value and the circumstances. £5 for a bottle of water is outrageous, but £5 for a bottle of water in the middle of the desert will seem quite reasonable. Likewise, 17m for a young wingback with lots of potential who can play on both sides is alright, especially given the circumstances (they don't want to sell, we are known to have lots of cash etc). He's supposedly coming in at <35k a week as well, which is nice.

Compared to 30m + wages for Shaw, it's a steal. ;)

Point is that it's sad to see our squad has regressed this summer instead of being strengthened. Right now I think Falcao is only slightly better than Drogba. Begovic is worse than Cech. Rahman is worse than Luis. Not to mention instead of adding more to our depth, we have maintained our crazily small squad for 4 competitions

Oh relax, half of Arsenal, United and CIty squads will be injured by December as usual. Meanwhile, uncle Jose's extraordinary talents at man wink management wink, will keep everybody quite healthy indeed and it will all balance out.
