Thanks for the advice, will do. And yeah, I got him from Brescia when he was 16. Wasn't cheap (9-10 Million...) but I think he'll be worth it.

I need some advice on this player: Ben Richardson (newgen), the next Paul Gascoigne! He has just turned 18, already plenty of 1. team games, and a couple of goals too. His attributes are very decent, and if he developes well enough, he will take over Rooney's position (I'm in December 2013).

What should I do with him? Keep rotating him and Rooney, as he is more than capable of playing the easy games. Does it matter what position he plays? Can he get games on the wings, center midfield and attacking midfield/attacker with the same effect?

I'm not too keen on renting him out, as he wouldn't be guaranteed to play, low level football, bad coaches, facilities etc. etc. ...

Thanks in advance ! :)

sub him in every game mate :)

start him at home vs weaker teams, play him at least 20 times a season, half being subs ;)

when I got a player like Lukaku on FM11, I always put him on his own schedule (make my own) focusing on his weaknesses.

eg. he already has high composure & strength, so I figured might as well put him on medium level for shooting & strength training to focus on ball control, attacking and aerobic (cuz he's not amazingly quick & has poor stamina).

in one season his acceleration/pace rose to 15/15, his first touch to 14 and stamina to 13.

just wondering would the same thing work on FM12? My only save so far is a Cardiff game and have the option to bring in Lukaku in the next window for 12.5-14.75m.

Yeah, that works. I do that especially later in the game when I get regens who have insane technical attributes for example, then I'll leave ball control on light/medium and focus more on tactic, attacking etc. And combined with individual focus you can really improve the players weakness depending on their PA.

Does anyone know the factors governing work rate?

I've been fining and demoting my team and this guy ends up with a +2 within the space of a single month. I've seen similar things happen to "aggression" as well. No tutoring.

Extremely useful for a lower league full back!

Is there a way of being able to scout youth players before they come into your team for trial??

Just bought this player. Have some amazing stats for a 16 year old. What should I focus on him to improve. You can see the training levels there. I have Vidal toturing him as them both are ambitious. He said no first but when I insited him agreed, is bad? THanks man for the awesome thread

just see what happens after the tutoring process :) his physical stats will improve with age and so will the mental stats, especially after tutoring ;)

Hey Guys

I'm currently playing a barcelona save half way through the second season and I was just wondering how you think the development on a few of my youngsters is going and if you have any further advice for me. I have read a few threads about how to train your youngster and as much as I enjoy reading these and have taken vital advice I feel it is very much up to each individual player and individual playing the game (you or I). Any how I have a vast amount of youngsters due to success in the Liga BBVA and Champs League, There are also some decent regens I have snagged aswell. Please could you just advise me on how each player is progressing in your eyes and if you feel they are either behind or in front in terms of where they are at. I appreciate your comments.

Carlos Fierro

Signed at the start of the second season due to his age and has played only a handful of games (Club World Championship and Scored a goal) Currently in my under 19's squad due to the fact I can only play three non european players in my first squad. Is being tutored by Lionel Messi and concentrating on finishing.

Wolfgang Osl

Signed from Freiburg for £3M at start of second season started off in under 19's but has now played in the first team and scored on his debut. Learning PPM - likes to beat offside trap and again concentrating on finishing. Is half Austrian and half German but is more happy to play for Germany, (Not on my game, means I can keep him to Barcelona)

Tony Trindade De Vilhena

A big shock for me as I didn't think he would improve so much. Signed at the start of the first season and used in only a handful of games in both seasons so far. Concentrating on Dribbling and learning PPM - Knock the ball past opposition. Hope he gets good.

Moises

Had heard good things about this guy but haven't been overly impressed. Has played again only a handful of games and used sparingly but a constant in the under 19's. Concentarting on his positioning.

Lucas Andersen

Signed in first season but only played three first team games. Improved alot in under 19's and has now been tutored by David Villa twice. Is a constant in the first team now and plays as my right winger. Very few goals scored though only one this season. Concentrating on his composure.

Kiko Femenia

I don't know why more people look in house at Barcelona for a right back. He can play RB, RM or RW for me now and is a great help when cover is needed. Has even broken into the Spain squad. Tutored by Alves and concentrating on Strength.

Erick Torres

Have sacrificed alot for this boy, giving up Alexis Sanchez's spot in the squad registration for him. Sanchez was out for 5 months so swapped them in Jan (Last Month). I have heard like Fieroo he is immense so am excited. He Is learning from Iniesta and will play AMC. Concentrating on Composure.

Cees Andelaar

No Idea what to do! Prima Donna and wants to be rotation to first team but NO! Is in under 19's concentrating on Dribbling.

1) Torres/Fierro if given enough time will develop! You wont play them much for at least the first 3 years as Barca so make sure you have a really good feeder club or loan them out to a good team where they will be valuable first team players

2) Anderson is quality but needs more playing time than Fierro and Torres, sub him in each game for at least 10 minutes, sometimes more and he will develop nicely (start in easier games as well)

3) The two regens look quality, more so Cees! He is very young so keep him on the first teams squad (but dont play him more than 10 times a season until 17) so sub him in several times and start him no more than 3 times, 5 times the next year then 10 times the year after) get all your players to tutor them, tutoring is the most important part of development!!

4) Kiko and Moises wont cut it at Barca... You can sell them off for profit at a later stage, loan them out :) They will become good players though but not Barca standard, more Getafe standard :)

Hey Raikan, Just a quick question. Can you only train players in the Youth selection (U19 or something) or also young players from your first team or reserves?

not sure what you mean :0

can you only train youth players on youth schedules? confused....

Sorry for not being clear.

There are some players I can't put a tutor on. For example I have a talented young player in my squad, a central defender and I want Vermaelen (in my save he is 35 years old) to tutor him. But when I want to start it, my young player isn't in the list with players Vermaelen can choose to tutor.

I hope my question is more clear now.

lol, 100000% more clear :)

see if this youngsters squad status is anything higher than Hot Prospect, if its First Team/Rotation/Key Player you will not have the option of tutoring him..
