The Emulation Challenge

Everyone has a favourite manager, be it Fergie, Pep, the Special One or so on.

The challenge I present you with is to emulate that manager on FM.

Start where he started.

Manage who he managed.

Win what he won.

I have done the Sir Alex Ferguson career on every FM since 2008 and as a Man Utd fan I am going to celebrate the appointment of our new manager by trying to copy Louis van Gaal's managerial career.

Louis van Gaal - Season 1 - Ajax

Playing this career on FMC and alongside my Barcelona La Masia game so probably going to Instant Result most matches. Season One already complete.

Other Comps:

Champions League: Quarter Final (Lost 2-1 v Bayern Munich)
Dutch Cup: 3rd Round (lost 2-1 v Willem II)
Dutch Super Cup: WINNERS (1-0 v AZ)

**We won the league with great ease, even allowing ourselves a few games to blood some of the famous Ajax youngsters. A typical FM14 match saw use bow out of the Dutch Cup very early. In the Champions League we fought a good fight against the reigning champions but Bayern were just too strong.

Barcelona, van Gaal's next club, won La Liga with similar ease (12 points clear) so Tata Martino won't be getting the sack just yet.**

A sensational season domestically, unbeaten and a league and cup double. Again, however, a little luck deserted us in the Champions League as we came up against 2014 winners Barcelona. A narrow 1-0 loss at home was hard to take and we gave everything in the second leg but couldn't break them down as the game finished 0-0.

Demba Ba was top goalscorer (he's not on the squad list above) and I signed him permanently for ?4.9m) as well as another loan star, Oriol Romeu (on a free). Chelsea had no interest is selling Wallace, Hazard or Zouma but I will try to get them on loan again, especially Wallace (superb as a right wingback).

Barcelona - A league and CL double last season, they only managed the league title this year so Tata Martino will almost certainly remain in charge.

Keep getting a ****** crash dump on the same date on my Louis van Gaal career!

So unfortunately I'm going to have to end this career which is a shame as I was into 2018 and won another 3 leagues and 2 cups and had a World Class reputation so moving onto Barcelona was only a matter of time.

I may return and start again later.

So looking a new challenge/career.

Any preferences be it a different emulation career from the first post or a new idea completely. Any thoughts?

No golf or football today because of the weather so lots of FM time.

I'm kind of interested in starting a Head Coach career where I leave everything to the Director of Football and other Staff and concentrate solely on matchday, What you think?

The head coach idea sounds good, especially as a lot of modern clubs use this approach nowadays
