With a great goal by De las Cuevas, Sporting Gijon end Mourinho's amazing 9-year undefeated run at home. This may very well be the end of Madrid's hopes of catching up to Barça, but it'll be interesting to see what the Special One has to say about it.

Was hoping Spurs would break it...

Potentially bad news, depending on how you look at it. Madrid should be fired up for tuesday even more now...

Quite upset for Mourinho, a part of me wanted him to keep this absolutely insane record intact.

it had to end at somepoint but no-one would have expected it tonight

it is quite funny

he's first "combo-breaker" was when he was training porto and lost to a not so great team named Beira Mar
the second one was against the not so biggy gijon

This means Barca is going to win on Santiago Bernabeu and take the title (Cause Mourinho finally lost in a match on home turf!) ...

Great... Well what can ya do

the record was in league games, he got beaten in cup games.

anyway i wanted Barcelona to end it

still 9 years...i doubt anyone can repeat something like that any time soon

Some things can't last forever but it was still a mighty record that in the modern era of football will be very very hard to beat.

David Barral, from Sporting Gijon, told the press that after the match Mourinho went to the visitors' changing room and personally congratulated every player and member of the staff for their victory.

A special one even in defeat.

9 years? That's nothing. While playing under Drillo, Norway have been unbeaten at home since 1990, including being ranked 2nd best in the world at one point. Granted, he's only managed us for 10 of those years, but he's got a better record year-wise;p
